"We need a codeword..." Rei repeated to himself. The idea of the two of them no longer being together seemed almost mystifying now. It was a short time, but it was long enough that this world began to feel like his own.

He knew it would be lonely, but he left in the middle of the night, knowing that Satoshi's altruistic nature would only burden him later. That kid could put the entire world on his shoulders and still smile that smile that Rei believe that they could reach the sky if they only wanted to.

And knowing Satoshi, he would find a way to do it. There was freedom in those eyes.

Rei wanted to know what that was like. "We need a code word for our friendship so that we never forget each other..." Rei said under his breath, remembering what Satoshi had told him earlier that day.

It sounded so much like something Haru would say. He laughed to himself, feeling like he was close to tears, as he thought about his own world, his friends, and Haru especially.

He couldn't cry. No, not right now. He held the paper that Satoshi had given him earlier. It was wrinkled now and full of sweat. Rei could hear the Pidgey in the distance cooing as they were waking up to greet the sun glazed sky.

Rei ran forward. When he was using the professor's computer, that open forest area had a distortion that would allow him to get back to his world and save it. He had to get back there.

Finally getting to the open field, he stopped and took a breath. Breathe, one, two, three. Inhale, one, two, three. Exhale, one, two, three. He took a moment to take in the expanse and let his heart slow down.

Walking to the middle of the field, he finally decided to open the paper that Satoshi had given him.

Hey,

I'm not good with words so this won't be long. I think we've had a lot of fun.

Pikachu thinks you're probably going to read this when you're all alone and trying to leave us behind. He's probably right.

You don't seem like the type to say goodbye. Its probably not in you. I've never liked the word. I've always preferred "See you later."

So, anyways, since I know you're leaving. This can't be helped. I found a word that works for us as a code word, "Konnichi wa." Since it means both "hello" and "goodbye." Its both final but also not forever.

Hello and goodbye. Its good for us.

So konnichi wa until next time.

Satoshi didn't sign it, but Pikachu signed with his paw print. Rei stared at the letter, his heart beating quickly and his fingers trembling. When Satoshi said that he was giving him a paper with what he thought their secret word would be, he didn't expect a letter.

Nor did he expect that his idea for their secret word would be the same thing he wrote down in kanji to Satoshi.

He looked down at his phone which started glowing as he began to be lifted into the air. Into the world that he belonged to.

"Konnichi wa, Rei!" "Pi Pi Pikapi!" Rei turned to his left and saw the two partners calling out to him. He wanted to yell it back and say how much he appreciated being with them, how much fun he had.

Instead, he smirked. "Tch. Idiots." Konnichi wa, I'll see you soon.
