lixiaofossil chapter 16 . 6/7/2019 About time for an update! And it's awesome as always! |
Guest chapter 2 . 9/7/2018 Cool |
Soldier of the Future chapter 14 . 11/9/2016 You are a creative and intelligent little devil - and I'm saying that in a good way, because the lore is purely genius in many ways. The new weapons are... well, I never expected you to expand upon them, but you did it. You turned a rather trivial idea and improved upon it vastly, because I never would've thought you would see the Doom 64 weapons as the successors to the ones from the original Doom Trilogy! Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the Doom Marine actually suggested the Double-bladed Chainsaw based on his experiences during the Hell on Earth episode... because after all, the Super Shotgun proved that a rather average firearm becomes downright fearsome when you stick an extra barrel to it! I don't know if it's just me, but I believe the BFG in Doom 64 has lesser firepower in contrast to the original. That, or maybe the Cyberdemons got beefier in regards to durability. *shivers* That got me thinking - why was The Unmaker never used against the Doom Marine? It is a demonic weapon in every essence so I was honestly surprised Hell's forces didn't actually field it as a weapon of war to deal with the only man that keeps on ruining their plans. The classic Soul Sphere indeed has what appears to be a human face from within the orb, but the variant in Doom 64 has a rather demonic face. Wouldn't it be more fitting if it was fueled with demon souls instead of human ones, considering how wicked the expression presents itself? Unless the Mother Demon decided to use the spirits of hideously vile humans... I don't know if you know about this, but there were two new demons added to the Doom 64: TC (a very old total conversion of the original N64 game with some new features) - the Nightmare Demon and Nightmare Cacodemon. Personally, I liked the concept of both monsters - the Nightmare Demon is basically a Spectre with the durability of a Hell Knight, while the Nightmare Cacodemon is a force to be reckoned with in every aspect. They have the durability of an Arch-Vile, move a lot faster, hit harder, and the worst part - they're resilient to pain, so you can't chainsaw them down safely! Will you add them as new demon breeds? I mean, you did take my idea of the Demonic Warship as the setting for the 3rd episode of TNT, so it would be nice if you considered it. Won't hold it against ya if you don't want to, haha. I'm looking forward to what you have in mind for the level descriptions, as usual! |
Soldier of the Future chapter 13 . 11/9/2016 I had always wondered where Doom 64 was supposed to take place (at least the first few initial levels, it was obvious you were in Hell after Final Outpost) because they weren't exactly too specific with it. I had always thought it was somewhere on Mars, as the game manual stated they quarantined the original facilities from the first game and made them a no-entry zone. So I see we're stretching further into the universe - first it was Mars, then Jupiter, and now Saturn. It seems like the deeper we go, the uglier new threats tend to be - I mean, the Mother Demon is a bastardized creation of Baphomet? Once again, I applaud you for giving her a backstory because the original game left her without one! |
Rysenberg chapter 14 . 11/8/2016 Nice one. Although I found the part about artifacts hilarious. Let's make more items for that Doom Guy to use against us. Also, please do a quick spell check, mistyped fell as feel. |
DrGonzo71 chapter 14 . 11/7/2016 Awesome! This was definitely worth the wait! |
lixiaofossil chapter 12 . 11/4/2016 How can I miss this update?! You always amaze me commander! |
Turtlewarrioroflegend chapter 11 . 9/27/2016 I remember a Doom game that chronologically took place after Doom but before Doom 2, though I think this was before Thy Flesh Consumed. It was the Lost Episodes of Doom which took place on one of Jupiter's moons, Io I think. I would love to see this one integrated into your chronology. As for the chronology itself it is very well done. I myself have thought about linking the Doom Series and the Dead Space series. Imagine the marker (assuming you know what that is) as a demonic artifact. |
DrGonzo71 chapter 12 . 9/25/2016 I remember reading this story so long ago, and wondering what would come next. Now, three years later, I am overjoyed. I cannot wait for your take on Doom 64, Doom 3 and it's expansions and my favourite version of Doomguy to date, the Doom Slayer. I am on tenterhooks, please don't keep us waiting! And, lastly, are the encyclopaedias for Wolfenstien and Quake still in the works, because I have been looking forward to those for a long time. Thank you do much for writing this, I can't explain how awesome the prospect of more is! |
Rysenberg chapter 12 . 9/23/2016 And you're back! Great addition to the Doom lore by the way. Will you be making any good crossover fanfics for Doom? |
Soldier of the Future chapter 12 . 9/23/2016 You actually updated this? And you decided to incorporate the Doom 64 lore? Now I'm interested - considering the story was even more confusing in Doom 64 than it was in Classic Doom. Heck, it didn't even specify where the setting was for that game! Let me mention that connecting all the games together into one somewhat-linked storyline was an act of ingenuity on your part. Doom 3 was a reboot of Classic Doom, and Doom 2016 was a reboot of both Classic Doom and Doom 3. Doom 64 is a supposed continuation of Doom 1 and 2 but as little to no lore was provided, it might as well be a separate game in its entirety. There was a theory that the Martians in Doom 3 are, in fact, the ancestors of humans. And if you did a bit of exploring in the Primary Excavation site, you'd find a tablet that references this - a mirrored variant of the Classic Doom boxart, except the nameless hero has a Soul Cube in his hand. Let me just throw this out there: the Doom Slayer (Doom 2016's protagonist) is by far the most badass incarnation of the Doomguy yet. I have no idea how they could make an already legendary character even more so, but they managed to do it. Also, I love the fact that Hell is just as violent as humanity when it comes to the desire and greed for domination and power - sure, they may wish to exterminate and condemn us to damnation for all of eternity, but they have their own internal struggles. Perhaps we are no different from each other after all... PS: I should've replied to your previous PM months ago. I'll get around to doing it sometime, lol. |
Soldier of the Future chapter 5 . 8/29/2015 I've noticed that you changed the third 'episode' of this chapter a bit. Instead of taking place onboard the Demonic Spaceship, it's focused on a Fiendish Realm now. Why is that? Just asking as I'm a bit curious...not to mention I thought the way you described this portion was rather fitting. |
MetalLearner chapter 1 . 2/1/2015 Had a read of this last night & I've got to say it's one damn fine, well written lore that could EASILY be put into the official canon of "Doom" from the chapters of each of the games, the demons, the weapons & equipment; is it possible to add Doom:- Absolution (aka Doom 64) to the Encyclopaedia as canonically it's the LAST in the original Doom series & I'd be really interested into your interpretation of this chapter? & Who knows? SGTMark IV the maker of "Brutal Doom" may get into this one too :D |
lixiaofossil chapter 9 . 7/22/2014 I think Baron of Hell is the "prototype" of "shock trooper", but they're to costly to be mass-produced. So Lord Baphomet goes back to blueprint, and comes up with the idea of Hell Knight, a much cheaper model that can be easily deployed en mass. |
lixiaofossil chapter 11 . 5/11/2014 Way better than ID Software's setting! And I'm begging you, please continue with Doom 3, Wolfenstein and Quake! |
