Yes. This is the Mary I so wanted for the series. I love your version of her. Lovely, intelligent, and a touch mad (as you'd have to be). I have a feeling I'm going to be lost in your world for a while.

Your refreshing version of Mary fits so well into the canon and is more believable and preferable to the otherwise lovely Mary (love Amanda in the role) of the BBC series. [Although I love her in TEH and SoT, I still can't feel fully reconciled to the contrived motive Moffat and Gatiss gave her for shooting and nearly killing Sherlock in HLV. I am so willing to get past that and hope that Season 4 will give us your Mary!]

I love seeing John through Mary’s eyes…this description was my favorite: “She saw that John…served as a liaison between the eccentric detective and the rest of humanity - an interpreter and even a buffer zone for the protection of all parties involved. He made it possible for Sherlock to truly help people, not just solve puzzles.” Brilliant description, and dead on the money, IMO.

I also loved this: “She imagined the accusations, the anger, the impatience, the abuse hurled at Sherlock by frustrated females who could simply not understand, could simply not accept, that Sherlock Holmes and John Watson were necessary to each other…”

My favorite, though, I think, was the notion that Sherlock, in driving off John’s former girlfriends, was in his own way protecting John from someone who couldn’t accept him for who he is, just as much as John protects Sherlock. Never occurred to me, but makes perfect sense. :-) Great job!

D'awwwwww! This is perfect and lovely! Thank you for writing it! You're right, the Mary from s3 has more of an edge, but I still think you got her most important qualities in there. At first I was thinking it should take longer for her to get in Sherlock's good graces, but you're right. Both ACD Holmes as well as Sherlock warmed to her instantly. Love this. Great job!

I finally have a bit of time to read your stories! This was really good, and I love your interpretation of their first meeting! :)

Mary may have been able to hide her joy and smile, but I certainly can't, as I have a kind of ridiculous grin on my face right now.
This was perfect. You've created the perfect Mary, the one I'm hoping so hard will be in Series 3. She was really, really perfect.
And I loved the way you wove the backstory into the narrative without dumping it on us. It didn't come across as you needing to tell us how John and Mary met. It flowed right along with the story without interrupting, but rather adding to it.
I love how Mary doesn't feel like a third wheel here. She's not just another of John's girlfriends, she's her own person. I love how Sherlock is putting her to the test, and I love how eager she is to become friends with Sherlock as well.
And I also really love how John beat up the man who was harassing Mary in the pub. :3
John and Mary are already one of my OTPs, and you have made me ship them even harder.

For lack of a better description I would call this "analysis" of Mary and Sherlock's personalities' very good and quite accurate.
Mary's a tough cookie and has the approval of the real Sherlock and John. :)

I quite agree, that anyone who doesn't get along with your friends, especially your best friend, is not the person for you. Poor John, I think all of his past girlfriends just saw Doctor and none of them realized he's such a dangerman. Well done.

This was great. i quite like the idea of Sherlock approving of Mary. and of John trying to delay that inevitable meeting. Your Mary is very well written, she's perfect for John. Well done!

Wow, I heard about you from a friend of mine and she did not lie. You're an amazing writer and I love how you present Mary in this story. Your Sherlock seems dead-on as well, of course under the bluster he would take care of the people that he truly cares about. The problem isn't that Sherlock doesn't care, it's that he cares too much. I can't wait to read the rest of your stories!
