Reviews for Variations on a Wish
harukkari chapter 1 . 6/20/2014
Aww, poor Sayaka. She'll never be able to get what she wants, will she? I feel so bad for her; she longs for the one thing she can't have. Nicely written.
Shiranai Atsune chapter 1 . 5/11/2014
I just wish that there was one world that Sayaka has her happy ending with Kyousuke...
Festus Flare chapter 1 . 12/13/2013
... You cruel person... Then again, this IS PMMM. Giving ANY of the characters a happy end is just jumping the shark.
The Animanga Girl chapter 1 . 9/22/2013
So sad...
Acer One Three Four chapter 1 . 5/8/2013
Being Sayaka truly is ultimate suffering.
whitealmond chapter 1 . 8/7/2012
Very sad, and very true to the spirit of the anime, I think.
Markus Ramikin chapter 1 . 8/4/2012
Well done. The interesting question is, is this due to Sayaka's flaws leading to her inability to make a truly wise wish? or is wishing a bad idea, period? (except when you're final-timeline-Madoka of course ;) )

I am reminded of an article "The hidden complexity of wishes". Worth googling.
Atheleia chapter 1 . 2/26/2012
...Wow.

Other reviewers have said all that I can, so I'll just sum it up like that.

Oh my goodness gracious, this is—for a lack of better wording—SUBLIME! You've truly WOW-ed me in less than 500 words! Love how you played on the whole 'multiple worlds' concept with Sayaka, having made her make a new wish (in regards to Kyousuke) in each one. Sayaka is for sure one of my top favorites in Puella Magi Madoka Magica; I can't help but naturally gravitate towards her sorrow and tragedy. It's beautiful (and sick & twisted!) how in these seven scenarios you didn't even permit her a glimpse of happiness. (Incidentally, the creator of the series, I heard, had stated that no matter what Sayaka was always fated to be doomed anyway.) Out of these seven segments, the one that educed the best chills out of me was "III," because it really seemed as though Kyousuke just went berserk on that xylophone and shunned the rest of the world. "IV" is the saddest, because of how Kyousuke chose to end his life through popping x amount of pills after seeing Sayaka do (so well) what he just couldn't anymore. "V" just made me go like... holy shit, that sucks... To think something like that could actually happen... "VII" pretty much blew my mind away, AFTER it eventually sank in.

All in all, I am pretty damn amazed with this mini-masterpiece of yours. I very much enjoyed how you were able to depict so much with so little (the lack of finer details went wonderfully with this entire ensemble), and this is, by far, my favorite PMMM fanfic. Thank you for an amazing read! I hope that maybe, by some chance, you'll write more of Sayaka (and Kyousuke? I wish!) in the future. :)

(Oh, and, just because so many authors tend to do so: please don't bother to reply to this review with a PM. xD Those are hassles for me. Just keep up the great work!)
mephitos chapter 1 . 8/21/2011
Now I am really depressed. Mission successful. Great short story, two thumbs up.
Danny Barefoot chapter 1 . 7/31/2011
Some sad ideas, told succintly. Number 3 was especially cruel, but all very likely.
superstarultra chapter 1 . 7/29/2011
Oh, god. Poor Sayaka. She became one of my favorite characters in the anime. Just grew on me after a while.

Thank you for creating this somber and insightful piece on her. No matter what she did, she was always left unhappy. So sad. :(
