Reviews for A Study in Rum
Windfall chapter 14 . 10/9/2017
Sparrow, the lore, every thing was splendidly portrayed. I did feel that Captain JS was a tad bit OOC, but then you can't exactly expect a 200 year old bugger to behave exactly as he did elsewhere.
Nini the Electrocuted Sheep chapter 14 . 6/30/2017
This was lovely! I've been rereading "Pirates of May" (forgive me for never having left a proper review there either; it's exam season and I've been procrastinating long enough by rereading everything you've written in the PotC fandom) and then decided to give this a chance as well.

I'll admit, somewhat shamefacedly, that I have not read any of the Sherlock Holmes books, as I found the writing style a bit hard to contend with. I have only watched the RDJ films and the modern BBC series, once each, and although I enjoyed both, I'm not active much in the fandom.

I was imagining RDJ and Jude Law while reading this, simply because the films took place in the normal time-setting, and it was a lot of fun! I'm impressed with how you wove the PotC world into this, and it was fun imagining Barbossa integrating into British society 170 years after "Stranger Tides", and Jack Sparrow making trouble for the detectiveScotland Yard :D

Cheers, mate :)

OH! Btw, I *HAVE* to ask: the scene at the pub in Owlsmoor, when Holmes sat in Mathews's/Barbossa's seat and 2 rough-looking fellows came up to tell him to vacate it - I seem to remember one of them being taller and younger, and the other shorter, older, and quite surly... surely those two were an homage to Pintel and Ragetti? :)
Anoushka chapter 14 . 12/16/2016
I loved this story very much and the last bit made my Watsonlock shipper squeal, so thank you.
Anon Amon chapter 14 . 7/22/2016
Awesome crossover! Thanks for the great read!
Nearing Midnight chapter 14 . 2/2/2016
This is such a lovely story! All loose ends were tied up neatly and all the characters are excellently written, as usual. :) this is a great read.
Nearing Midnight chapter 2 . 2/1/2016
-spoilers below in case anyone hasn't finished this chapter yet-

D: Noooo! Barbossa?! While this turn of events is shocking, at the same time I'm curious as to how this turns out and how you merge one century with the next. Wonderful story so far!
Dreamsteel chapter 14 . 11/19/2015
Oh my word, I once again find myself lost for words after reading one of your stunning works.
Bravo. Really. One of the best works I've read.
Starluff chapter 14 . 2/10/2015
Lovely cross over! I loved this a lot :) thanks.
ShadowLDrago chapter 12 . 11/5/2014
Go on...
ShadowLDrago chapter 11 . 11/5/2014
The day you almost managed to capture Jack Sparrow, I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I knew he'd have to say that at some point, he's too smug not too.
ShadowLDrago chapter 9 . 11/5/2014
I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! The only one with the sheer balls to infiltrate Scotland Yard in broad daylight with Sherlock bleeding Holmes there, would be either Jack Sparrow, or a descendant.
ShadowLDrago chapter 8 . 11/5/2014
Someone infiltrated Scotland Yard, got away with it, and in broad daylight, only one man would have the sheer audacity to do that. Captain Jack Sparrow.
ShadowLDrago chapter 7 . 11/5/2014
My inner Sherlock Holmes fanboy and POTC fanboy are squealing. Teague, the last name of Jack Sparrow's father, interesting.
ShadowLDrago chapter 6 . 11/5/2014
The wit here is very entertaining.
ShadowLDrago chapter 5 . 11/5/2014
More evidence of this being a POTC crossover. I can only imagine how hard it must have been to think about this whole mystery and try to "get" Sherlock Holme's style. I like how Watson is figuring things out himself as well, making deductions and thinking things through, being more than just a companion to Sherlock Holmes and asking what's going on for the benefit of the viewers.
