I thought it was actually a really interesting idea to have Ed actually act out and imagine everything that had happened in the show, though I think it was actually a little sad that he was so incredibly lonely that he imagined a friendship with both Eddy and Edd. That said, it's also a little bit interesting seeing how Edd was in real life, which raises a few points about Ed's character. Here, it seems like Edd is a more independent and didn't particularly care for either of the boys. As we know in the show, Edd is very different on a few fundamental levels. So, it seemed like he not only imagined a world where he had friends, but also molded everyone to fit certain roles, which is actually a little ingenious on his part.

That said, everyone's attitudes towards him in real life is almost a little alarming, and almost gives a poignant sense that they're REALLY in the real world. After all, most people won't really care for someone like Ed, and would rather leave them to their own devices than step in and help. Edd ALMOST seems like a shimmering beacon of hope in that world, but in the end, he wound up leaving Ed be, instead of stepping in to help, like he initially wanted.

In the end, I couldn't help but feel something for Ed. On some level, I think he actually realized how alone he was, and, as such, made a "finale" for himself in which he could escape the occasional torment of his imaginary world. In the end, I have one question, and this is something you could ask yourself as well. Who was living more true to themselves? Ed? Or the rest of the world?

An excellent, solemn take on the reality behind the show... and it was written hastily? I really have to see what you can write when you think it through first... on to your other stories!
Seriously though, great job. This is the first 'Ed, Edd n Eddy' fic I have added to favorites.

My god. This was mobidly fascinating. I don't understand what happened to Sarah? Weren't she and Ed siblings? In this fic are they not? I don't know what to think of this. What possessed you to go this rather depressing route?
