Reviews for The Lances Unlifted
DachderWelt chapter 2 . 4/22/2017
It's unbelievable how powerful and realistic you describe Ziva's helpless anger and rage. One of the best NCIS stories. And her anger continues because the revenge was taken from her... It's so different from most stories here!
The poem at the end is also quite fitting. Great work!
bunnykoko chapter 2 . 9/2/2014
Have just rediscovered your stories. Have only read one other, so I'm now reading all of them. Ch 1 is an interesting 180 from what most other writers have done re her psych status. Can certainly see her anger in Ch 2 as being realistic based on Ch 1.
NuthatchXi chapter 2 . 1/10/2013
I think this may be the only story on this theme that I have loved, even though I feel a little shattered having read it. Ziva and Tony are, as usual, perfect in your hands.
cameron-sarah chapter 2 . 12/3/2012
OMG. I know you finished this ages ago, but the cute way you approached asing people for reviews really got to me, so here you go!

Your story was amazing. I think fics about Ziva's time in Somalia are really interesting, especially seeing the different ways people show it. But yours is my favourite by far. I think you really captured Ziva, and how she would be feeling in that situation.

I love the way you describe her anger, and nurturing it to et her through. Also, the positioning of the rain and memories and fleeting hope right before Saleem coming in to rape her was really just crushing. But I think you approached it very well. And I like that that is where she finally decides that he really is dead and rotted inside.

I love in the second chapter when she's running - pretty much that whole scene, where she is running away from something, but also running for a feeling of freedom.

In summary: I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS FOR THIS FIC AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH. IT IS GOING IN MY FAVES FOLDER FOR SURE. And thank you for writing such an amazingly indepth story on this topic with Ziva. :)
Catmint chapter 2 . 9/29/2012
This is a really good piece of writing. I really like how you've used the rain in particular. It's heartbreaking and sweet and there are so many emotions, all done really well; I can feel them pouring out of the words.
Amilyn chapter 2 . 5/31/2012
This take, of Ziva *needing* to be angry at Tony and Gibbs for taking away her chance for vengeance is really8 interesting. It's a unique take, thoughtful, and the story is well-constructed to lead up to this. I like that you don't have a huge dramatic realization that she was raped coming from Tony; his response is low-key, as if he already knew or suspected...and knows that he cannot react broadly, especially not when she is so brittle. I like his comment about 'as long as we're being logical" and how Ziva explains how she feels, what she needs. It's nice to see her speak up for herself.
dvd123 chapter 2 . 3/4/2012
I really like this! It's an interesting take on how Ziva felt right after she got back. Her angry at Tony for taking away her chance of killing Saleem is something I haven't read before. But it fits and it works. Even better? Tony's reaction to that. He understands and lets her take it out on him.
Pough chapter 1 . 2/3/2011
My goodness. This was remarkable. I'm so impressed. Going now to read your other works. I could learn something from your brevity. Wow! Fantastic!

rubiesandrain chapter 2 . 11/24/2010
This was good. It honestly made a lot of sense with the series and stuff, because after Somalia she would have a more pent up rage, and she was all like "If someone raped me I would..." and she had a ton of anger in her voice. UPDATE SOON! :)
Cheshire6845 chapter 2 . 11/22/2010
Excellent story! Powerful writing that let us know what she was suffering through without directly showing it. And the characters were nailed perfectly. Well done!
Anonymous033 chapter 2 . 11/14/2010
Okay, I know this is supposed to be your first ncis fanfic ever, but I'm reading your stories in the wrong order so this is actually the last one I've read, and I have to say, your stories about Ziva are always so sad that they make me want to cry. That's a good thing, because it takes a certain amount of eloquence to make people feel strongly enough to cry, and that's not easy to achieve. I particularly love chapter 2, where Ziva realizes that she is angry because Tony and the rest of the team took away her chance to have her revenge. Excellent work :)
Jananae chapter 2 . 10/19/2010
Terrific story. The first chapter was painful, the second was mournful. I think the best part was the almost delayed reaction that Ziva has as she stands in the rain.

"...but she hadn't been able to see him or his face and he raped her in that cell in Somalia."

It just really seemed to hit her in that moment. Such sadness. You did a wonderful job with this story, and I loved the Byron poem at the end.
Mooncombo chapter 2 . 4/17/2010
Holy cow, how on earth did I miss this story? This was truly incredible. I can't even find words to describe the power of this story. Amazing.
Quinndolynn chapter 2 . 4/3/2010
Oh, I like how you turned what I liked about the first part (her anger) and made it something much more terrible. Also, I realized the hazard of reading better quality post-rescue fic is that the emotional impact is so much greater. I know, I know it's necessary, the trauma has been completely glossed over in the show, but still, OW.

Anyway, I thought your stories would last longer but it appears I've finished with them fairly quickly. Not cool. Now I don't expect review in return or anything. I know you've already read some of my stuff (thanks for reading, btw!). I don't even expect replies or anything like that. However I would like to redeem the review credit for some new chapters/stories instead. I mean, bribery works both ways, right? :)
Quinndolynn chapter 1 . 4/3/2010
Yes! I've read many captured-Ziva fics out there, but every one offers something different and this one offered rage. I liked it. Angry, bitter, wants-to-kill-things Ziva is a lot closer to canon than the broken-Ziva we often see (and which I'm admittedly guilty of writing.) I especially liked the personification of death, and this line: "when he slinks back out to confer with Death on the other side of the door." Nice job!
