Oooo I loved this!
darkraistlyn chapter 3 . 6/28/2014
This was excellent. I really enjoyed the character review.
BlueMilagro chapter 1 . 4/7/2011
EXCELLENT story, dearie. I aspire to write as well as you. I've stayed late at work, long after everyone has gone home, to complete this story, and it was well worth it, because your sense of the characters is just so spot on. Wow!

(Love love love you to pieces! It's me - Ginny! :D)

Very artistic, I like how you contrast and compare the characters of Mr. Todd and Mrs. Lovett. I agree with your perception that in their own twisted ways they are a tragic love story, Mrs. Lovett is just overt in her expression. I love the sheer logic to your fanfiction. Everything seems to follow a set pattern, which makes the progression of events seem very believable (especially the passage about the dangers of a daily routine). I loved this, great job. I hope you write more in the Sweeney Todd fandom as you seem to have a knack for channeling their respective characters, which is not easy (believe me, I've tried and failed to come up with something I'm satisfied with).

Sincerely,

Tawny
khonsu chapter 1 . 3/21/2008
wonderfully in-character. Sweeney's train of thought was very believable.
songbird64 chapter 3 . 3/4/2008
This was AMAZING. I love your writing style. There are lots of lines that are just fantastic, but the one that broke my heart was this one:

"(He had once loved flowers. Or someone else had. It was hard to remember.)"

It just killed me. In a good way. This whole story is full of wonderful aching moments, and I love that it's not sentimental or romantic. You've really captured the nuances of the Todd/Lovett relationship.

I especially enjoyed this last chapter, cause I do love stage Sweeney best with his dark humor, but even the first two chapters fit with either the stage or movie version, and that always makes me extra happy. I sincerely hope you write more Sweeney fic!
E. Linnet chapter 3 . 2/27/2008
I really liked the first two chapters, but wow. This third one was so well thought out and so chilling it totally blew me away.

Nice work.
VampireSwan chapter 3 . 2/26/2008
Once in the bakehouse—or charnel house, mausoleum, whatever word seems to suit best.

Loved that line!

And the whole story. The parts in the brackets fitted in perfectly, and you had excellent characterization throughout the whole chapter almost made me cry, and the first and last lines of it were perfect... And yeah, I think psychopathic movie Sweeney does have a special place in everyone's hearts _ Johnny Depp doesn't hurt either _
Wicked R chapter 1 . 1/28/2008
wonderful writing, very emotional.
Shiro Ryuu chapter 3 . 1/20/2008
Wow. I've read a ton of really good Sweeney fics-I guess it's the kind of tale that's just made for giving great ideas to great writers, maybe that's why it's been remade so many times too-but this is the first one that's left me so speechless. It even had me tearing up at one point, toward the end of the second chapter I think, don't think any of the others have managed that either. Just, wow TT I really can't express how amazing this was, it's just beyond me, especially in this distraught state 'n' all ; An instant favorite, and as it's sounding likely that you won't be writing any more on it, I really hope you have some other stories...
Icelands chapter 3 . 1/19/2008
Yeah, I know what you mean about Len Cariou being a lot more emotional. If he had played it onstage like Johnny Depp did onscreen, his performance would have been awful. (Mind you, I haven't seen the live production, unfortunately, but I've watched clips.)

"“You look like you’ve seen a ghost, Mrs. Lovett.,” he said. “It’s only me.”

(Benjamin Barker.)"

The repetition of the paragraphs, the idea of Sweeney's past self, all combined here wonderfully. I loved the way you phrased it, so subtle and yet so, so meaningful.

The way you put their relationship- it seems like a sort of dark and twisted Romeo and Juliet kind of story. "They would be each other's end." Which I suppose it is, as they both sacrificed themselves in a way for the other and ended up dying for it. But it fits Mrs. Lovett more, probably.

Keep writing!
Icelands chapter 2 . 1/19/2008
Characters are very well done here. I love how you express Mrs. Lovett's view on love, it fits her personality very well. And how you illustrate all the things about Sweeney that she doesn't understand.

One thing, though: "He was always burning all the time. So warm—his skin, his eyes, his very existence."

Warm? I'd say more cold. But then again, just my opinion.

Keep writing!
Icelands chapter 1 . 1/19/2008
Well, since you won't let me criticize the logistics of it...:P

It was actually quite well-done. I like how you interpreted Sweeney. He really was quite in-character, you could feel his urge to bleed someone, to kill. Except for- well, no logistic criticizing here. LOL.

And the line from By the Sea, I don't know. From the way Tim Burton did it, I really don't think they had sex. Sweeney is too wrapped up in himself and the past to even think about another woman or even other person. Besides the Judge, of course.

I think the line was just further evidence of the sheer improbability of Mrs. Lovett's fantasies. But that's just my opinion.

Very well-written. Keep writing!
KnoxAingeal chapter 3 . 1/18/2008

Inkwing chapter 3 . 1/16/2008
I like this story a lot. It's sad, but in an understandable and accurate way. I think you've protrayed them perfectly. I enjoyed this a lot, so thanks!
