This is truly a beautiful and plausible take on Holmes' struggles with addiction and how Watson might have helped him through it. I loved the strength of their friendship you portray, that, while of a more personal nature than anything the doctor could have written about, still fleshed out what we know of them through Canon without resorting to romance or eschewing characterization. Thank you for such an enjoyable read!

This story has become something of a...comfort? to me. I relate with Holmes very much when it comes to accepting or seeking out help and being able to hold a conversation with someone when the desire hits but not really having many people I consider friends. When I'm feeling particularly down I can read this and think that if he can accept help at his worst, albeit very different from mine, then maybe I can too.

Very tastefully done. In finest tradition of Canon, slash lovers have to read between the lines and use own imagination. Leaving dignity of traditional story lovers in tact. Voice of Characters remains true, easy to envision as "true" missing info. Thank you.

-EXCELLENT- story! I normally loath one pagers, as more often than not they are haphazardly written and lack substance. Somehow you managed to pack an incredible amount into one page.

It is comforting to see that a man can have a friend that close without him being a lover. Not that I am opposed to the relationship a lot of people write them in, mind you. But you have actually managed to capture the essence behind a true friendship.
