Reviews for Cottoncrow's cry
JohnGilbertVampirehunter chapter 19 . 3/3/2014
Awesome story. I don't usually review stories that have been long been completed but this story deserves one. Though I wish you could have explored Kazam's past and the reason for her actions you did such a good job at the narrative and characters (I really hated Samuel) that many times I forgot that I was reading fan fiction. If you don't already you should consider writing stories of your own creation.
Here To Annoy chapter 19 . 1/19/2014
Excellent ending to a great story. Holy hell I almost gave up reading towards the middle there you made such a despicable character in Samuel and in such a depressing setting to boot. But I'm glad I pressed through as it made the ending that much sweeter to read. Loved it.
Guest chapter 18 . 12/28/2012
I just realized that Kazam is the name of a pokèmon
HellzCrusader chapter 19 . 2/25/2011

PreciousCosmos chapter 14 . 12/27/2010
I have never before read a more beautiful and perfect description of nature. You must be so much more attuned to the planet than many others I know.

I think I've just discovered why writing is such a beautiful thing to me. Several reasons actually.

(1) Writing allows a person to know what God felt like when He created the world. When a person write a story, they create a world, with people, with past, present, and future, with life. The feeling a person gets from that is just so wonderful, and I thank God that He gave me this wonderful gift. You clearly have it as well.

(2) As like you did with this chapter, a writer can put real emotion into a story, and the reader feels it. They can write what they feel, rather than what they say. Many don't know how to do that.

(3) The thing that I believe people want the most is control. That's understandable, with the physical weakness that humans have compared to other creatures. Too much control is unacceptable, though. Writing, however, can give that control, but no one suffers from it. I do believe that if humans were to transfer that control into writing, the world would be a better place. Writing is clearly something God gave to mankind as a way of being like Him and a better way to understand Him.

~~~~~~~
You have a wonderful gift that I haven't really seen in anyone else.
PreciousCosmos chapter 9 . 12/27/2010
ok, ok, since reviews are always nice. I really like the friendship between Legolas and Gimli. It's so nice. Not like others that make them a couple and stuff like that. The writing is very good. Well done!
It's that darn water that's making them sick, I know it! And I hope Samuel gets his fair share of pain! (I'm evil like that ;P)
I have a lack of things to say, so I will end this review and go read and review the next chapter!
MK chapter 19 . 4/26/2010
Wow, this is one of the best fanfics I've read about Legolas and Gimli, kudos! And the mental image of a short-haired Legolas and a beardless Gimli made me snort. XD
Lasgalendil chapter 19 . 8/29/2008
What can I say? I've been away for almost two years, and I come back and your story is finally completed! I LOVED IT:
A: as a story, it was excellent writing. You used almost cinematic cliffhanging there at the beginning.
B: The plot twist of the she-dwarf being evil...I didn't see that one coming! Good job.
C: Excuse me, but Cottoncrow was still healing, but it would cry no more has got to be the best ending of a story ever! Tying the title back in like that was simply awesome!
As Lord of the Rings fan fiction, it was excellent! You really brought out the goofy, intimate side of Legolas' and Gimli's friendship. And Thranduil was excellent as a father and a king. I know he is a very tough character to portray, what with our only knowledge of him being from The Hobbit, and there he is arrogant, seemingly uncompassionate, and greedy.
Writing is an art, but it's also a science. Some people are born with a talent for storytelling, and others can only learn as much about the structure as possible and hope for the best. You have definitely developed your talent to its fullness by grasping the scientific side as well. This was excellent fanfic, but it was also amazing storytelling. Keep it up!
I just finished reading your story in one go. Very well written, a great plot and all in all beautiful. Thank you very much for this work of art. It's jewel-stories like yours, which make scrolling through tonnes of bad fanfiction worth the time.
Nessa Leralonde chapter 19 . 4/11/2007
i am so glad that it is finished! ii've been reading this for over a year now, and i was constantly waiting for updates, so that only now, a while after the final chapter was posted, i actually finished reading it. and to you orphium... WELL DONE! i wish i could write like you, you really have captured the spirit of the characters, you have kept legolas and gimli true to their portrayal by tolkien and peter jackson. the only bad thing i have to say is that it finished! keep writing, and maybe even think about looking for a publiser, you should easily get any of your work published.
Finally thanks. thanks for the time and effort put into this storry. it has been a pleasure reading it. i love it.
Meriagrin Baggwise chapter 1 . 3/15/2007
Gya! I cannot bear to look! What happens? Does Tom kill Legolas? I must know! Nice job getting your audience's attention, as you can see; but there is so much tension! And in the first chapter, too. Very refreshing. It's always cool to hear about Gimli-he seems to get misplaced or forgotten in on e way or the next. Well, now I have to read on! Bravo!
Gaina Katrea chapter 19 . 2/22/2007
It's a beautiful story which I deepl enjoyed reading. I love how you create such an intense plot and bring up Gimli forward. He doesn't much in story but in yours, you could feel that Legolas and him were on the same level.
A beautiful story indeed .
ShopGirl1 chapter 5 . 2/21/2007
Uh oh! Legolas and Gimi are in some serious trouble in this town. I like the story, and I'm eager to read more!
