Man, everyone is so on-point with the character analyses in their reviews, that I feel like I have almost nothing new to say for once, lol. Well, I do have a couple things to add. Ren's obviously adorable, but here's the thing... when you've got a talent that's arguably on the "creepy side", and a sort of timid, awkward disposition to go with it... well, that's a recipe for suspicion. I doubt he's actually secretly evil and making dolls out of people, but hey, I'm not letting that slim possibility slip from my mind! Sorry, Ren!

But wow, I've just got to say I love the whole mood of this story. The age and relative maturity of all these characters really come through, and it certainly feels like we're witnessing a reunion between truly unique individuals, who all have their own stories to share. This is a fantastic start to what will definitely be an exciting night!

Okay, let's get straight into reviewing before I forget and start crying about it hehe. Anyways, another great chapter as always! Keep doing the good work, but don't rush! Take your time to give us your best work~

Anyways, I'll just be talking about the characters introduced to us so far. Namika is an interesting protagonist though! I imagine she'll be having some awesome interactions with a lot of people here, whether that are arguments or casual good fun. I like how she tried to create a joke that she always carried a surfboard to school, but my poor girl can't just carry that with her all the time! Haha, anyways, let's see how much suffering Namika will have to endure in the future, upupupupu! Also, hopefully we get to see more of Mae. I really like her relationship with Namika after all. They play each other off really well.

Alright, onto the characters introduced here.

Ren's definitely a nice and sweet person. He's a timid person, but definitely a nice person and someone who will try to be helpful to others. A sweet person so far, and hopefully he won't have to suffer any much more than he is already. Ouch, he broke up with Aya... It's okay Namika, just don't mention about it ever again, oops. Ren's definitely an awkward and timid person, but definitely someone who's sweet as candy. I wonder what's his relationships to the others are like.

Rafael's a cool character! He seems to go off well on Namika, nice to see that they were old buddies before! Rafael's definitely a nice person, friendly and extroverted! I'm assuming he'll take on the role as the one who'll try uniting everyone together under a well-meaning cause and try to lead the group. He's also very well-cultured and the like! Extra brownie points to him, hehe.

Penelope is definitely an interesting character. I like snarky characters, so it was nice to see someone like her! She was definitely someone who couldn't really stand up for herself before, seeing as she was probably one of Mai's little victims of her pranks. I like how she can stand up for herself now, though she still has that awkwardness and quietness to her. An interesting character.

And then we're introduced to Mai! Someone please protect her. I wonder what happened to Mai that caused her to do a complete turnover. Once a bully and is now someone who looks frightened at everything around her. It's cute that she has kids and loves them, but I can't help but worry what happened to her that caused her to become like this. Stress had definitely taken over her at some point, given her appearance.

Michika's the one to be introduced next, huh? Well, anyways, you're doing a great job at portraying him! Exceeded my expectations at that point~ Also, he's a bad person, teaching a kid 'shit'. How dare he.

Also Benito why did you bring your kid here. Poor Kyanite will suffer. Ah well, it isn't his fault since he doesn't even know we're going to be thrown into a murder game. D:

Speaking of Benito, that flashback to Benito's match with Harper is very interesting. I wonder what happened to Harper? Definitely not something good, but I wonder what Namika's one regret is from that and why exactly does she blame herself for it. Also, yes, I want some information on Benito and Namika's relationship, wink wink~

James! He seems to have chilled down, but he still has that solider-like charm to him, saying 'Sir' and whatnot. I'm liking him so far though! He's friendly and grounded.

Alright, so Namika will be meeting Yusa! I wonder what will happen there... and that's the end of the chapter! I can't really say much because I'm just repeating what everyone else are saying, but anyways good luck with the next chapter!

It was good to meet the first bunch of the cast-with the exception of Michika, who seems rather, well, harsh (though it does at least seem well-meaning), they all seem really nice (my fave of the chapter has to be Penelope, can't put my finger on why, but she definitely resonated with me). Though, how surprising to learn Mai was once a bully. She seems a shadow of what she must have been like now, though. At least her kids seem to give her some happiness, and that will give her common ground with some of the others, which could be interesting to add to the mix of the whole former-bully dynamic. Speaking of kids-there's a kiddo here with them. Oh no. Oh no, no, no. PROTECT HIM.

Anyhow, great work, I look forward to the next chapter!

Hi Lupus long time no see, yay a new chapter is out, great job and I'm looking forward to seeing this story and what you have in store for us X3.

Ren is such a shy and nervous guy, I like him already and the fact his love life is not so great makes me feel even more sad for him, poor guy I know it all too well QwQ.

Rafael seems like an interesting and cool guy, he seems to know a lot about his culture as well as his sort of competitive streak with his former teams. He seems like a good guy.

Penelope I like already given her rather sarcastic and awkward attitude towards the others. Also the wallflower of the cast, I relate to her so much and it's interesting to see she knows so much and her talent is unique as well.

Mai seems like a good girl, a rough past and some bad deeds under her belt, but I do like the fact she's willing to make amends as well as repent. Her having kids is just raising a giant death flag for her, but given Req OC, it's a given.

I almost confused Michika for a girl, XD RIP. He seems like a helicopter parent, always making sure the others aren't up to their shenanigans and his tendency to be overbearing and nosy might get him in trouble, not sure.

James is an upstanding guy, he seems like a fun person who cares for others, given that he is a soldier he seems like the guy who will help you out when you need it and I like him for that.

Overall a great first intro chapter Lupus, and I can't wait to see the rest of the cast, I'm so hyped X3.

Yay! Chapter!

Ah Namika. You carry the surfboard into the school, only to ditch it before basically anyone could see it and appreciate the joke! Though I suppose she could always bring it out again once things get going. She certainly seems to space out a lot. That’s probably the one thing that I noticed about her this entire time. She often gets lost in her own thoughts, to the sometime annoyance of others.

Ren is an absolutely sweetheart that must be protected. His dress and mannerism definitely suit his talent. And apparently there was an Aya in the picture, although she’s not in the cast list. Guess that saves that awkwardness (side note, I wonder if there are any former couples in the cast?) Ren might actually be my favorite of the characters introduced, surprisingly. I was expecting it to be Vega.

But we’re not to him yet. Next is Rafael, who Namika seems to have been fairly close with. Makes sense that two of the more athletic talents were friends. He’s obviously very charming and good to talking to different kinds of people. Seems almost... burned out though? He mentioned not having a lot of personal time, and I’m sure that playing soccer (soccer, not football) for 10 years is tough.

It’s hard for me to get a read on Penelope, although that’s not a bad thing. She seems like one of those characters that are just inherently more mysterious, which is only added to by the fact that Namika doesn’t really remember her all that much. She does like talking aloud in order to, well, order her thoughts. She’s also not the type to apologize simply to apologize. She’s self aware enough to recognize when things hurt, which is really mature of her.

Honestly, I probably felt the most sympathy for Mai. She also seemed to be the one who changed the most since high school. In fact, she almost seemed to be the opposite. Like she was scared of something, and it wasn’t that Penelope would reject her apology. Obviously something really bad happened to her - a prank gone too far maybe? - but I’m glad that her kids make her happy! (That’s totally going to be a motive, isn’t it?)

Next is the jerk of the cast (at least so far.) I don’t like Michika much, but those kinds of people always set me on edge. Good on Namika for calling him out on his BS. Him teaching the little kid “shit” was pretty funny, though. Interesting that he did seem to get along well with some people, like James. So he’s not a completely unlike able jerk.

I do like James a lot too. He seems very grounded, though obviously also has some emotional baggage with him. Understandable, given his talent and how long he’s been a soldier. Was he a Captain back in high school, or was that just a nickname? You’d think after 10 years he would get some kind of promotion. Unless I’m overthinking things. It’s very possible:

We also had a brief flashback that mostly centered around Benito. I’m curious what his relationship to Namika was. It feels like it could have almost been romantic, but they were definitely very close friends. Something about her reaction to the memory of the sparring match makes me think that maybe it wasn’t as much as an accident as it seems? Now, Harper is obviously in the cast so Bentio didn’t like behead her or anything. But something bad happened. I’m sure that’ll be a fun reunion between those two!

:O nice chapter, Loop. We get to see Namika drag a surfboard for a joke, and her companion Mae left, huh. Thought she was going to stay as a partner? We meet the next ultimate, Ren the Doll Maker, timid boi, seems he split up with Aya.

We head right over to the soccer player (football) Rafael. Seems to be one of Namika's better friends and from Brazil to boot. Right after we're introduced to Penelope, a surrealist who seemed to be bullied by Mai, the former forger in the past. Honestly, I don't know who to side with on this one, Mai's apologising but Penelope a victim but time didn't heal her wounds. I don't hate either of them, but I hope Mai gets some happiness soon.

Michika comes right up and we get to know, who said the quote. Kind of a stern guy, bad man, teaching Kyanite shit, and we learn that that he is the ultimate combatant's son, Benito (which we were shown a little bit of Harper in a sword fight) the question is: did Benito harm Harper in some way? Seems Namika feels guilty about it, but when first reading I thought it was more school crushes, but that sword scene quickly changed those thoughts. But we haven't officially met Benito yet, so curious for that. (Gotta say, Kyanite is a very shyjoker-esque name lol)

The last person we see for the chapter is James Vega, and soldier (captain at that) and another father. Inb4 kids are the motive to kill. Anyways, seems that he still has soldier in him from his interactions, but seems to have chilled (much like Benito was mentioned to have chilled) out and calmed down over the years. Finally, we end with Namika going to meet Yusa, and eventually the rest of the cast too boot. Fun chapter all in all, looking forward to the next one.

Now I'm hungry for sushi...

There's def something happening, with that disappearance talk. She's not happy right now, and as I just said, I think she longs for the old days. Also, lots of things happening, and she doesn't know what to do afterward, which is interesting.
Oooh she doesn't want responsibilities, same. She even wants to see her enemies, fun.

But beyond that, this was nice to get some more insight into Namika. She may seem all bubbly and happy, maybe a bit of an airhead, but there's definitely a lot going on under the surface. What happened to make her lose her sponsorship? Does it have to do with her disappearance? Honestly, I'm probably more interested in further exploring her insecurities. Those were some pretty heavy thoughts in the beginning.

But yeah! Great job so far! I can't wait to see the cast!

EEEEE I love this. I, too, want to hear the story of Namika attempting to surf on a dolphin. Amongst other things. And, yeah, all I can say at the moment is I LOVED THIS CHAPTER (I feel bad, I wanna be like the others and come up with insightful things to say, but...*sweat drop*). So, before I begin in earnest, here's a quick thought before I forget about it. If I'm not mistaken, Mae is like Namika's agent, right? It's Karin who's actually Namika's sister. Although from their interactions, I can see why Mae and Namika seem like sisters; they've really got a nice friendship together, huh? But I do wonder about who Airi is, could she be one of the other students that she's managed to somewhat keep in touch with? But apparently, things have soured between them recently, so I'm lookng forward to their reunion and learning about what exactly happened.

Alright, now let's actually get down to the details! The fact that Namika has had financial concerns on her mind, really drives home the point that this cast will be completely comprised of adults. This is such an intriguing and fun concept, and I can't wait to see what sort of adult ultimates have been made. Having lived longer lives than typical DR OCs have, thre's so much more room for history, development, and interesting past relationships. With old friends and enemies reuniting for the first time in ten years... we're bound to see some fireworks explode!

Another topic of interest, are the apparent rumours surrounding Namika. I wonder what sort of rumours they were? Must be something pretty nasty, considering she lost a sponsorship over it. Still, the way Namika reacted to Mae's remark, seems to imply that there's some truth and substance to those past rumours... Namika, there's more to you than meets the eye, huh? I like it.

Judging from that little line about having "flooded the school" in the past, I get the impression that Namika was quite a bit more wild and spontaneous during her school days. But she seems to have mellowed out quite a bit over the years, and I'm really fond of her current temperament. Namika is very conversational and natural with the way she speaks, and yet, there's this certain "wistful" or "melancholic" quality to her, that I think is revealing of a very complex inner nature. She's a great protagonist so far, and it's oh so rare for a protagonist to have a talent like "Ultimate Surfer" (they tend to have mental, rather than athletic talents), so I'm curious as to what sort of skills she'll display during the Killing Game itself.

...I just can't stop thinking about the fact that she apparently flooded the school at some point, lol. That's just so wild! But man, I know at least one guy who probably would've been pretty upset by having his delicate work be interrupted by a sudden flood, lol. That could've been borderline manslaughter!

This has been a lovely prologue, and a great introduction to Namika's character, her relationships, and her current situation. Excellent work, Lupus, this is some quality stuff! I look forward to seeing what happens next!

I do like the dynamic of Namika and her sister Mae, I find their relationship really cute and the way they play off of each other is exactly how I imagined them to be as sisters. The little mentions to Namika's endeavors were a nice touch as well.

I do have to wonder why she's so anxious all the time, maybe a little apprehensive when reuniting with people she's not seen in a long time. I do like the internal struggle of her character and I can't wait to see how it plays out in the rest of the story.

Heyo! Finally got to reading this intro and my interest has been piqued so much. The idea of a class reunion is already interesting for its prospects in potential established character relationships, and it seems we have a protag who isn't all too jazzed about being an Ultimate. Namika is honestly quite relatable haha. I hope meeting up with old classmates gives her some relief, at least in preparation for the despair that'll follow ;A; I'll try sending an OC but regardless, great start!
