Review (for the story as a whole rather than this chapter):
Quite enjoyable and full of interesting contradictions - - its "epic" chronologically but written largely in short pieces (including turns that barely qualify as full scenes but are, simply, and generally, effectively, just snippets; although there is a "plot" (in that it follows the narrative of Jim and Carol's relationship, from a flirty but platonic friendship through to parenthood), the story's appeal lies more in its episodic quality. It's entertaining, light, quick and, at times, quite humorous (though it could have gone through a couple more drafts with good deal of editing; it could be much tighter without losing its naturalistic ramble that is an essential part of episodic story-telling). Ultimately, it invites thoughts of a sequel dealing with the everyday highs and lows and basic realities of how a happy marriage plays out for a couple of still active space service heroes. (i'm thinking of Richard Linklater's "Before..." film trilogy starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy).

David's birth was better than I expected! Of course something like Carol being kidnapped by augments in a Klingon cruiser would happen. Nothing's easy when it comes to the Kirks lol.

I love that hearing David say something will be fun brings a sense of horror to the crew. But knowing who his father is, are we really surprised? Some of it might be Carol though. She has way more restraint, but I think she's definitely capable of some spectacular hi-jinks.

Did Jim and Carol have a shot gun wedding? I bet that was memorable as well. Lol

And Spock and Nyota have a little girl! It's inevitable that Spock and Jim's children would conspire together. Oh the mayhem they bring on the new recruits!

I can't wait to see what have in store for the Kirks, and I am especially excited to see this whole thing from Carol's POV! I feel like we don't get enough Kircus let alone their love story through Carol's eyes.

This chapter had a nice mix of sweet and funny moments in it. I found the idea of David and T'Lai like a mini Jim and Spock adorable, now all they need is a mini Bones and the trio will be complete!

Story from Carol's perspective? I'd read that. And the one about David growing up on the ship, I can only imagine what sort of... interesting childhood he'd have. ;)

Now this was a good chapter. Good work on touching on what happened during Beyond without bogging the story down with unnecessary details and not just glossing over it too.

And of course Sulu would have his own "bitch, please" face.

I just sent the review for Chapter 6 and I realized that Nyota was talking about Jim being the other kid. Duh! Sorry! But yeah, still would have been funny.

You had me really worried for a second there! I'm glad that it had a happy ending, and that Carol's coming back with Jim to the Enterprise! Poor Jim was thinking he was going to end up being dumped. I mean when you hear words similar to "We need to talk." it never sounds like a good thing.

I love that they're having a baby! I'm really hoping they don't erase David Kirk from the reboot. He's Jim Kirk's son for crying out loud. Although hopefully it will have actually worked out with Carol and there won't be any of that nonsense where he stays away from them. Bullshit.

Do we get to meet the newest addition(s) to the crew?

The fact that Jim and Spock are going to become dad's at the same time is kind of hilarious. I just imagine them occasionally having to find a place to hide for a little bit because pregnant women can be scary sometimes; you don't mess with the hormones. Carol and Nyota talking about their babies and all the physical changes (horrors) they have to go through, and then Jim hightailing it out of there and ends up climbing into one of the shuttles in the hanger bay and finds Spock already there with a stack of baby books (I saw one with the title - The Baby Owner's Manual: Operating Instructions, Trouble-Shooting Tips, and Advice on First-Year Maintenance - and I just thought that would be right up his ally) and they say nothing. He just picks one up and they read in silence.

Bonus if someone gets their hand broken during labor because Mum is squeezing so hard. Probably Jim.

Anyways, this has been so fun to read, and I can't wait to see what you have for the bonus chapter! Hope to see it soon!

Jim strikes me as the sort to give a more manly whoop of glee, but shriek definitely works after getting THAT kind of bombshell dropped on his head. Carrie, pregnant?! Knowing those two, their kid(s) will be a rapscallion before he can walk! Loved Scotty's reaction at the end by the way.
Ooh, maybe have Keenser pop into the epilogue getting the wee one down from some lofty height.

I liked how Carol was cool with them being referred as mom and dad and Jim is the one caught off guard. This chapter felt bit sparse and all over the place. The scenes could have been better strung together, still a good chapter though.

This chapter was so sweet and had so many feels in it. I really like how you addressed the fear they have of losing each other and the strain said fear could cause their relationship.

Real good work on hinting about the non-con at the end of the chapter. It was subtle and vague, but not so much that the reader wouldn't get the meaning of what was happening.
