You could retcon Rings so that instead of Killing Salem they would take away her Magic and say the Ozpin created those ring in an earlier life believing that he could seduce Salem back into being good and that the rings were just in case it didn't work.

yea. after that salem/ozma backstory chapter, i would really doubt any of this would be possible unless you write an alternate past for the two. it's like how the introduction of Moira in overwatch pretty much killed all possibility of MercyxReaper fanfics...

I understand, I'm creating or rather trying to create RWBY fanfiction but then Salem's backstory was revealed it was pretty much a b**** slap to nuts because it dealt a devastating blow to the two main oc characters backstory details and the backstory I was going to give Salem.

I think this is a great example of "the similarity between canon and cannon is that they both sink ships". I'd be more disappointed in this AN if it wasn't for that fact that...well...canon and that there seems to be only one RWBY drunken marriage fic (that isn't badly written or a cringe fest) still somewhat updating. Kinda used to this by now.

Sorey about that. I know that feel too when all your hardworking either disappears, gets corrupted, or you forgot to save it. It hurts.

But on a serious note, couldn't you says "screw canon", and go on a different route? I understand it's easier to follow the canon so one gets lost, but sometimes it better to make your path. That is a risk but could have work. You just gotta tell the readers that Salem's canon background is different than your take on it.

Making a ring that could bypass Salem's immortality? That was some bullshit Ozpin pulled there. For Jaune's sake, I'm hoping Salem has gotten over her suicidal phase (which never amounted to anything because immortality).
