Wow, a Jien/Kaid_n Fic! How sad he must have been when she left for Andromeda...

... FYI, FFN removed the Femshep Character tag, or at least changed it to J. Garson (As In, Jien Garson, the woman who created the andromeda initiative). Discovered this when seeing core-trilogy fics with 'J. Garson' listed instead of what had been Shepard (F).

Wonderful! I love this whole story. Kaidan and Nick are real people, both strong. Can't wait for more.

Sorry for the late review but I wanted to take the time to read this chapter properly.

I like this one in that it gave some more personality to characters especially Kaiden when he finds one of his spec ops students. As much as I like happy endings, reality is that not all of it is happy especially in war and you showed that by having the soldier's death affect Kaiden and then it leads to him with the promise to talk to Nick about it. That is real despite the sadness. Good job on that.

My personal favorite is hearing the younglings from Grissom complaining about where they were being placed. The classic younger thinking they know better compared to the veterans. It's always a crack up and fun to read/watch. I like how Nick puts the young ensign in his place. You used the backstory with the whole sole survivor thing without coming out and saying it but implying that it was there and she knows something. It was very well written and I enjoyed it.

As usual, your style is uplifting and keeps me coming back and anticipating the next chapter. Looking forward to it.

This was a really good chapter. I loved how you brought Kaidan's spec ops team into it and you broke my heart when Liao died. Kaidan's pain was so clear it hurt. His concern for his biotic squad was so heartfelt, it's exactly how I imagine Kaidan feeling and dealing with it. I always believed he'd be a great CO.

And Jack. Watching Kaidan throw her backwards and stand between her and Nick - hot and sexy. I love his jump to her defense. I can only imagine what a fight between those two would have been like, I doubt there would have been much left standing.

And Nick, putting Rodriquez in her place, ah the innocence of youth, but she's right, you can't have a war without supply lines. This entire chapter was so much better than the game, the little touches you've added fleshing it out nicely and really put us on mission with them. I loved it.

OOoooooo, Rodriguez hit a SORE spot.

I feel so terrible for Kaidan, losing Liao like that.

Unfortunately, when you're fighting a war on several fronts, there are going to be casualties.

I loved the scene in the mess, him remembering what she liked to drink, the banter and Vega becoming aware. But the best line was from Garrus - here we go again - had me cackling. Awesome line.

And then Nick helps him get over his bad news in the best way possible. I felt the frustration between them, the long wait they've had to endure. But the wait is over and what a way to end it. And a biotic flare - I love the idea of him using them in bed. Just perfect.

I can imagine the ribbing they're going to get from Vega, Garrus and Joker about locking themselves in the lounge. I would love to be a fly on the wall. A wonderful chapter and you haven't lost your touch with smut. Loved it.

Well that was steaming. I liked that you included the biotic flare and I figured Kaiden would do something like that when engaging in beautiful natural acts. The sex scene was okay. There seemed to be a couple of missing word but it didn't detract. I did like that Kaiden was trying to be responsible but 3 years is a long time. Here it seemed like the tension between Nick and Kaiden was lowered to more comfortable levels.

Overall another good chapter and glad to see you still alive and posting when you can. Look forward to seeing the next chapter.

Great chapter, and I'm sorry it took me so long to review. I liked the action in this chapter, especially on the Citadel and seeing everything from Kaidan's point of view. Having to come face to face with the woman you love and momentarily drawing on her would have really thrown Kaidan emotionally, so it was nice to see them talk things through at the end too - rather than have everything just be forgotten about.

I adore their flirting at the end too. Even after all this time they still have so much heat between them and so much passion burning just below the surface. You can tell they're both so hungry for each other - I love it and I can't wait for more.

A use of the Monty Python reference, and I am so happy that Kaidan's back aboard!

I really like your take on the Cerberus coup, it makes far more sense that what we got in-game.

Awesome take on the coup. I really disliked Udina so seeing him get his comeuppance was beautiful. I do like how you get in Kaidan's head, he had to feel confused, guilty, doubting himself and you caught that really well. Plus I always wondered why we couldn't have seen Kaidan in the Spectre Req Office when we were there, I'm sure he would have used it.

And Thane - why the hell didn't he use that pistol, that scene left me gob-smacked and I love your thoughts on it here from Shepard. I never got close to Thane - liked his character but he never really attracted me to him - and that scene left me wondering how he could do what he did when he's supposed to be this you beaut assassin.

I'm glad Kaidan is back, I think he's the perfect way for Shepard to get over Mordin's death, not to mention helping her relax. He (and his arse) are the best sight in a long time. Loved it.
