Reading 'Hershel is 17' fills me with dread...
I really like this story, they're both so well written especially the changes as they age!

I must say, I had changed my view on Descole after reading this. I used to loathe him A LOT for the immoral actions he made (especially when he tried to kill Luke with Detragigant's drill), though in reality he's just a tortured soul who's seeking justice for his ruined life. Now I blames the prequels for their bad writing on his character. (Especially AL for its ars*pulls.)
It's really saddening to see Raymond's demise. He's the only real friend Desmond ever had and also his "morality controller" (is that the term?) I'm actually worried that Des will gone mad with that.
I'm happy that finally Desmond could mended his bond with Hershel and atoned for his past mistakes there. Something that's completely missing from the games.

That utter bastard! Insert minutites of swearing and insults in a laguage of your choice here. I don't know enough expletives to do properly. Well done for make by a character I previously had sympathy for number one on my hated list. Seriously it takes a lot to do that so be proud of having pulled it off while not being overly gory. It shows skill.

I think I just binge read this entire fic in one sitting it was so good and impossible to step aside from.

It was really nice to read a fic where Layton and Desmond were raised together (since the games are sorta weird...who just LEAVES a kid behind in favor of their sibling?) And just reading from his pov in general.

So.

Kudos to you for weaving such a wonderful tale and sticking through to the end. I look forward to reading some of your other Layton works

This chapter reminds me of the song "Let You Down" by the Material. Very good, I'm glad that this is a finished fic.
