Welcome~ Hello, you can me Napat or C! On ao3 under the same name (to be honest im more active there) English is not my native language. No beta for me. I prefer working alone in the comfort of my nonexistence schedule. My first story was written in 2016 and oh boy it sucks, but it's still not finished so I just go where it takes me. Favorite Writer My favorite writer of all time is a Taiwanese novelist called Gu Long. He's known for his wuxia novels. The sentences were short and he used a lot of dialogues like a play script. (Yeah, I get it from him, I'm sure.) His works are so fast-paced and so intense. So addicting. It's like drugs. I can't put the book down. I just can't. I'm reading one Gu Long work. (Embroidery Bandit) This work begins with him explaining the weather in two sentences. Then he introduced a character and his job all in that half page. In one page, something interesting has happened. A mysterious character appeared. When it reaches the fourth page, the people he introduced at the beginning were pretty much doomed. (He also doesn't introduce the main character at the beginning. He introduces the antagonist first.) Okay, the second scene was the same. Introduces a character and pretty much ruins him in three pages. Gu Long why. That story is good, I think. A lot of plot twist, though the characters talk about their plans a bit too much at the end. Gu Long likes beginning with the weather for some reason. I admit that it really sets the mood. I read his books in Thai so the wording might be different, but here are some first lines from different books in my house: Dawn. Autumn. Winter. It is cold. Mountain is covered with white snow. Wind from the north is strong. Ice and snow are cold. The sky and land are dark. It is spring in [a province in China]. Dawn. The sun is setting. These lines are followed by characters. Sometimes he begins with characters right away, but by this I mean the next scene will probably begin with the weather. (It is hot. No wind.) Pfft Gu Long you have to do that. Really though, I think it's charming. It's telling you that language in his books will be simple and direct. Mitsumayo is my OTP, ah finally I found it, my reason for living. |
