He's not dead. He's not. It's a mantra Dean chants as they drive back to the bunker, Cas' body in the backseat. He doesn't look at Sam's pitiful eyes, doesn't look at anything except Cas' paling face in his hands. But just as he's believing Cas is gone for good - the impossible happens.

By allowing Lucifer to use him as a vessel, Castiel helped eliminate the Darkness and saved the World. But it may have been at the cost of Sam and Dean's friendship. Deciding he has nothing to live for without that, Castiel plans to end his life on his terms and be at peace-if only a certain ghost of an archangel would leave him alone. Post-Season 8 finale, the boys and the now human Castiel have to get rid of a ghost at the local Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Human!Cas antics and a bit of the cockblocking moose follow quickly behind. This is most certainly a destiel fic, just rated for Dean's language.

After the apocalypse doesn't happen, Dean goes back to Bobby's house alone. He burned Bobby's body in the field. There wasn't enough of Cas left to burn or bury, and Sam was gone. After a few weeks of drinking and researching, Dean's ready to finally off himself and join his whole family, but a discount easter card and a sudden reappearance save him. Eventual Destiel. Human!Cas.

If mind-controlled Barton doesn't come to spring Loki from the helicarrier, somebody else might have to.
