May 9th, 2008 Inspiration comes, and so does homework. Doesn't that just stink? But I'm at least alive and updating again.Updating being the important thing, of course. ;) Digimon :UPDATED as of May 9th, 2008: Chapter seven of The Last of the Gijinka is nearly complete, and I am determined to have it up at or prior to White Day (March 14th for those of you who don't know), for reasons pertaining to Impkat's deviantArt account. Also, my Spring Break starts right after White Day, so hopefully I'll have the time and motivation to write even more when school isn't sapping my brainpower. I'd like to thank Impkatfor her help in getting me past my sticky point and helping to kick the plot in gear, as well as the lovely doujinshi and pretty pictures she's posing over on her deviantart accound. And I'd also like to thank her for helping build and design "World of the Gijinka" , a website that. . . . well, you'll see if you click my homepage link above. Go check it out! You'll like it, I promise! Again, Thanks, Impkat. you've been amazing! Everyone cheer for her! Final Fantasy IX - Updated as of March 9th, 2008 Chapter one of Aong the Ashes has been started, but I'm having trouble with my transitions - but rest assured I'm not abandoning it, for the few who are interested. This is one of my babies and I will see it through to its conclusion. At least my villain finally has a name. In the meantime, enjoy the snippet below! -Odeur- Eiko sighed as she dropped her travel pack and stretched. It had been a long trip back to Madain Sari from the Black Mage Village, and an uncomfortable one. Everything had to happen to her during summer, when it was too hot to want to walk further than a balcony, let alone trek for miles in the sun. She glanced over at Valdin, once again wondering how he could traipse about in that coat of his – especially a black coat- when she, who was dressed much more suitably for the heat, found it difficult to do much of anything. Well, he was sweating, at least, so the heat did affect him somewhat, just not enough to make him ill, apparently. Her irritation at her companion’s seeming inability to suffer from temperature problems boiled over as she slumped back against the old fountain that served as the centerpiece in the ruined city’s square. “Alrighty, we’re back. We can start repairing the Journey in the morning. For now . . . go take a bath or something. You stink.” Eiko pinched her nose closed with her right hand, while she waved her left hand side to side in front of her face, emphasizing her point. She nearly crowed in delight when Valdin shot her an annoyed glare, his golden eyes narrowed in frustration. “You do know that it’s impossible to travel as far as we have in the middle of summer without sweating, don’t you?” The green-eyed teen rolled her eyes at the companion she had “affectionately” dubbed “Mr. Sulky”, while trying to puzzle out just what he was leading up to. She ran her fingers through her hair, grimacing at the feel of it after so long without the chance at washing – how had Dagger been able to keep her hair so nice when traveling around Gaia? It really wasn’t fair that someone could stay that clean with all the grime and dirt out in the world. Pretending not to be interested in conversing with Valdin at all, she drawled, “And your point is . . .?” Her fingers caught on a tangle and she winced. Long hair was such a pain; maybe she should just cut it off and be done with it, or something. Hearing a cough coming from the man standing a few yards away from her, Eiko met his eyes with her own green ones, determined not to show that he’d caught her lost in her thoughts. Again. Then Valdin smirked. '. . . Well, darn. ' He knew anyway. That just wasn’t fair. Once Eiko’s eyes were securely on him, Valdin finally got around to setting down his own pack and taking off his heavy black coat, which he folded and placed neatly on the pack beside him. The teenage Summoner blinked when she realized the shirt he was wearing underneath his coat was long-sleeved and grey, with what looked like another shirt on underneath it. Really, he should have been dead with all those layers on in this heat. “My point, Princess,” and he managed yet again to insult her while being respectful, “is that you smell far less than pleasant yourself.” Eiko sputtered indignantly and looked around for something to throw at the man who dared insult her personal hygiene. Finding nothing, she settled for glaring daggers at him and replying in her most condescending, I-am-royalty-and-you-are-nothing-but-the-slime-on-my-slipper tone, “Ladies do not smell. Ever. Even if we are . . . unwashed.” Valdin’s response was to walk over and invade her personal space to the point they were almost touching, whereupon he dropped his head down and spoke in a low-toned voice, “Well then, I suppose . . .” There was a look in his golden eyes, seeming brighter than usual, that made Eiko catch her breath and wonder, fleetingly, if he was thinking about kissing her. Then, he continued, “I suppose . . .” he smiled, a strangely warm smile, and inched his face that much closer to Eiko’s. 'Oh. My. Gaia.' He really was going to kiss her. “ . . . You must not be a Lady after all, then, because you stink just as much as I do.” He then jumped out of the way before she could slug him. -End- |
