Updated Bio: 01/29/06

Well, I’ve just wrapped up my eleventh fanfic set in the universe of Rob Renzetti’s “My Life as a Teenage Robot”. And now that it’s completed, I can confidently state that it’s the last fanfic I’ll be posting here on Fanfiction.net. There are a couple of reasons for this: first, I’ve honestly lost all interest in Teenage Robot, mostly because Nickelodeon has done such a stunning job of completely choking the show to death. Secondly, there are other creative and personal interests I want to devote more of my limited time to. But mainly, as you readers can probably tell from my last few stories, my interest really no longer resides with the show’s characters. Ever since “Escape From Paradise”, I’ve really been writing Drew stories. That’s what is fueling my creative juices right now.

I’ve talked about this before, but now I’m finally ready to convert Drew from a fan character into an original character, with his own story, his own universe. Since Fanfiction.net only publishes fan fiction, and not original fiction, those stories won’t appear here. And in the early going, I expect to do most of my brainstorming visually – so I’ll be posting a lot of Drew art (along with supporting characters and other art) over at my DA account, http://.

I can’t believe that I’ve managed to write hundreds of thousands of words here, but you know what? I don’t regret one second of it. Writing fan fictions has been fantastic practice for me, and has helped me sharpen my skills as a writer, plotter, and storyteller. I honestly think I’m a better writer now than I was when I started. And I’ve made so many friends by interacting with the awesome people here at FF – I never expected that to happen back when I posted “Android Scam”. Heck, I never expected anybody to even read the thing. That’s probably the greatest experience I’ve had here (and boy, this is gonna sound so corny, but it’s true) – the joy of people telling you that they had fun reading your stories. To all the folks who’ve IM’ed me, mailed me, left reviews – you have no idea how much each and every one of your comments, criticisms, and compliments meant to me. Your feedback has provided me with so much confidence and inspiration that it’s next to impossible to put into words.

So now it’s time for Andrew Nabholtz to leave the nest, and fly on his own. His world will look a lot more like our own; it’ll be set in the present (or the near future), he’ll probably be a freshman college student, and he won’t be dealing with alien robot empires or interstellar love interests. But you can be sure one thing won’t change – I’m still going to be rough on the poor guy. Heh, heh.
