Anthony Strallan had been in a bit of a rut, and he had no intention of ending it. Then Edith Crawley moved in next door, and his choice in the matter became non-existent. Modern A/U.

London 1927. Edith Crawley isn't a naive young girl anymore - she's an independent woman, a writer, a mother. Michael Gregson is a distant memory and Edith is managing just fine, thank you very much - until, that is, an old and rather familiar face makes a sudden reappearance, setting off a startling chain of events for everyone concerned.

Modern AU. Edith is a PhD student running away from London to pursue a line of research. She finds herself in the small Yorkshire village of Locksley, where local landowner Anthony Strallan is struggling with his business and his life. T rated, will move into M with an appropriate warning at the top of the chapter.

A very AU story based on a picture of our very own butler as an executioner in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. What if this executioner met Elsie Hughes under less than favorable circumstances?

January 1922: Part of the 'Moving' AU. Charles and Elsie continue to build their life in Hull, visit Downton, go to Germany and eventually take their trip to Italy. Life happens along the way. This is, essentially, my take on series 4 and beyond (WAY BEYOND)!

Modern AU: When Professor Hughes decides she's had enough of being alone and waiting hopelessly for her dear friend to fall in love with her, she sets into motion a chain of events Professor Carson might not be ready for. With Elsie embracing a new 'live a little' attitude, the Downton University faculty will never be the same again but could Charles really lose the woman he loves?

It's April 1944, and a year after his resignation Foyle has returned to the Hastings Police. Sam resigns her job at Beverley Lodge and reappears at the Station, 'all present and correct' in her MTC uniform, only to have her boss call her 'presumptuous.' How will Sam get her revenge for that remark?

A group outing to the flickers proves to be a revelation - in more than one sense. Set after "Broken Souls". November 1944 onwards.

A tribute to Laura R, a fellow FW fan I got to meet in May. She came to see my Fred Astaire talk at Harvard, and we had dinner in Cambridge, during which she told me she had retired from journalism to pursue a longtime dream of opening her own bakery and luncheon spot. Late in the summer she did just that, and The Foodsmith is going strong!

Charles and Elsie try to adapt to retirement and marriage

This is my response to a series of prompts posted on Tumblr for the Carson/Hughes pairing. Each chapter will be based on a one word prompt and will vary in length and will feature our lovely butler and housekeeper!

I got bored with trying to figure out ways to get them together and decided instead just to have some fun! So here they are, married, and skipping right to the good stuff... A sweetly romantic take on their first few days as husband and wife.

It took a serious accident to make two colleagues admit their feelings for each other — and to realize what a marvellous team they made.

A modern AU in which Charles and Elsie take tentative steps toward friendship and love, aided by Beryl Patmore and (unwittingly) Richard Clarkson. This is a crossover fic with A Fine Romance, the wonderful BBC series with Judi Dench and Michael Williams.

December 1902- AU. Following closely behind the events of 'Training Wheels'. Carson is reading the young Miss Crawleys the new play, 'Peter Pan'. Lord Grantham returns from Africa. Starts with lots of fluff, but does have more serious moments. A Very Carson Christmas in London! Other stories in this AU; Training Wheels, Moving Forward and Moving On. NO SEASON 4 SPOILERS.

November 1921- An AU series 4. Sequel to Moving Forward- With the house in mourning, Charles and Elsie consider life together and retirement. How will the rest of Downton be affected? Lots of Cora and Robert and Mary as well. Might go T rating later, but will start out mild.

An AU which imagines that Richard and Isobel might have met before the start of Series 1, when they were working as part of the army's medical corps during the Boer War, and had an affair. The plot will follow that of Series 1, but not closely. This story will pay major homage to The English Patient.

This story will follow the relationship of Elsie Hughes and Charles Carson. It will focus on their unspoken feelings finally emerging. It is set during Series 4.

Edith Crawley works for a small, independent publisher. Anthony Strallan is her boss. When Edith asks him for a rather delicate favor, he says yes, neither party really knowing the full implications of their choice.

After Matthew's death, Isobel must deal with something she would never have expected: the sudden departure of her only friend in Downton. Left alone to think about what happened, and what was lost, Isobel starts to realize that things are not as she had assumed the previous summer. And that she wants and needs her doctor back. - Rating may change in the following chapters.

Modern A/U: Edith Crawley has recently moved to Dublin for her post-grad studies, and calls on one Dr. Strallan, an old friend of her father's. He proves to be a good ally (and possibly more) through her ups and downs, including trouble with her family, her writing, and a certain Prof. Gregson. (All characters belong to Mr. Fellowes) Full credit to Jo for the idea!

As Elsie Hughes continues to struggle with her fears, the secrets she keeps start to unravel all around her.

Edith Crawley has lived in the shadow of her sister Mary all her life. As she struggles to find her own way she has managed to sully her reputation and that of her family. With the threat of her escapades being published in one of the new scandal sheets, her father has given her an ultimatum, marry and soon. Only one person comes forward to help her, Sir Anthony Strallan.

Mary never got the chance to speak with Anthony at the picnic. But that doesn't mean Anthony and Edith's future will be without obstacles. Anthony/Edith R&R please

Elsie has a problem, she needs someones help to solve it, but she's not sure how to go about that. Rated T for now, though it may be upgraded to an M for later chapters. Please review but be gentle it's my first fanfic! Disclaimer: I don't own them, I only wish I did.

Anthony has to fight to save Edith from a terrible fate...At present this is AU but set after the 2012 Christmas Special.

Can the present be something neither the past or future could? And should it? This is my Anthony. Although I love him dearly, he is prone to getting things backwards. Thinking what should be said when he should say it instead. Or, saying the wrong thing completely. But that's alright. Edith is her own woman now – or trying hard to be – and she doesn't mind driving.

I've so wanted Edith to take a stand, especially this season! So this is my take on what Edith and Anthony would and should do, starting after Episode 3.3. (Spoiler Alert!) First FanFic, so bear with me, please. Starts out T, may get a little M later. (And obviously I own nothing...)

Set a year after the drama of 3.03. Lady Edith is living and working in London when a chance encounter changes the course of her life- or perhaps merely puts it back on track. Story was planned after the airing of 3.03 and before the airing of 3.05 so I imagine it will be completely AU before too long. [Highclere Award Winner]

Edith Crawley realizes that, yet again, she is the sister left behind - and decides to do something about it. Set in 1920 post Christmas Special , the middle daughter of the Crawley family refuses to give up on the man who once called her "lovely".

Something interrupts the wedding before Sir Anthony can utter his fatidic "I can't". Edith/Anthony, AU.

Not daring to risk his friendship with Elsie, Charles decides on a rational approach to find love. Isobel has began a scheme of her own and Richard Clarkson is dealing with some regrets. Let it never be said that Downton is a dull place.
