It's funny because we are so intertwined with the lives of these fictional characters that our minds starts to create a place for these people. We wonder what these people are doing at this very moment, even though we know they are not encompassing that moment in real time. Because, as pathetic as it is, when the book ends, the season finale stops, the movie turns to credits--we need more.

You know the part where Katniss had just shot the president and is going for the nightlock to kill herself and Peeta saves her from clamping down on the pill?

Direct Quote from Mockingjay:

“Let me go!” I snarl at him, trying to wrest my arm from his grasp.

“I can’t,” he says.

He says he can't. It's like he doesn't understand why he is saving her life but something deep inside, underneath the hijacking, knows why. Because if normal Peeta would have been in this situation, he would have said, "I won't." Which basically means he will not. But can't means can not. It's like it was physically impossible for him to let it happen.

I think that is the most understated quote from the whole series.
