![]() Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter. When I first started reading fan fiction, it was purely a result of the end of the books and movies. I loved the Harry Potter stories and didn't want the magic to end. On one of the websites out there, I found a test I could take in order to be a beta reader, and then I realized that I enjoyed editing and correcting tough grammar issues. I've been fortunate to work with writers I enjoy like GNRKRYSTLE, and many others. I've also worked with writers that have really weird tastes, know no grammar rules, and one that I thought was not a native English speaker, and come to find out she was raised in England...oops! it started out slow, writing a one-shot for a challenge, or writing a few chapters based on a theme, but I started enjoying writing again. I wrote my first long story, THE MISSING PAINTING, based on an idea I worked on for a while. It was pretty well received, and caused me to write two more. I've enjoyed it, and am planning to write my own original story and see how that goes. That's what we all do eventually, don't we? As far as the personal stuff goes, I think there are only two interesting things to know. First, I am old, exactly the same age as JK Rowling. Second, I am male. I rarely come across other male fan fiction participants in the Potterverse, and I think that's worth calling out. When I read something, I come from a different standpoint than women do, and I edit stories differently, and like more action and story, and less relationship angst. If I had advice to give a writer,it would be to NOT use a misunderstanding to further your story. Think about it, would Hermione really just misunderstand something that Draco said, then run away to cry and try and forget him? No! She would investigate and discern what is really going on. Give the girl some credit. Oh, yeah...she would never hook up with Snape...ever. Finally, if you aren't familiar with how punctuation works in regards to dialog and quotation marks, look it up. It is pretty easy. I love to edit stories, so if you need some help, just drop me a line. |
