![]() Author has written 18 stories for Harry Potter. Hello, AfraidOfFalling here! I read the Harry Potter books for the first time in the spring of 2009 and have been reading fanfiction since the fall of that year, and the next January I finally decided to try writing myself. Most of my fics are fairly short, as I find myself lacking the patience to complete longer ones. = / Additionally, I prefer writing and reading one-shots to multi-chapter fics, because I read and write fanfiction mainly to celebrate the characters themselves rather than plot. However, I enjoy the challenge posed by writing longer fics--it takes more perseverence and a longer attention span, and it requires the maintenance of a decent and imaginative plot in addition to keeping true to the characters. Thus, I will continue to write multi-chapter fics even though I prefer one-shots. I am currently writing the sequel (called Come Together) of my first multi-chapter fic, Let It Be. I love reviews--especially the ones that give me advice or criticism. Never hesitate to tell me "I didn't really like it, because..." But do try to keep the "because" in there--knowing WHY you don't like something will help me out quite a bit. Of my own fics, my favorite is probably Fang of a Basilisk, and I also recommend that you read Defeated by the Darkness. These fics were written for a reason--I wanted to explain something: the power behind a sentence Harry threw at Snape and the largely-ignored story of Peter. Check them out, even (or especially) if you could not care less about Snape or about Peter. Due to my obsession over Severus Snape, most of my fics will involve him. I hate slash, and I dislike most shippings. However, shippings I do enjoy include Dramiones, AU SS/LE (though I probably like canon SS/LE (aka angsty, tragic Snape fics) better), and some minor-character shippings. Snape is my favorite character, obviously. The others in my top six, in no particular order, are Neville, Luna, Dumbledore, Molly, and Dobby. My favorite male Weasley is Percy (gasp! (Ron's a rather close second...we barely know Bill and Charlie, Arthur is a hypocritical law-breaker and wasn't exactly accepting of Percy (not that Percy didn't make mistakes of his own, but still), the twins are careless with others' well-being, and Ron is often rather prejudiced and hateful, though admittedly a good friend for Harry)). Of the Death Eaters, Snape not included since he's actually a "good guy," Peter is my favorite, possibly because people so often don't bother to even think about him, and when they do, it's usually just to complain about what a rat-faced coward he is. I suppose I like Peter because I realize how terribly, how carelessly other characters have treated him throughout his life (though that certainly doesn't excuse his actions). Peter, I rather think, was actually MORE victimized by the Marauders than even Snape was... I adore Potter Puppet Pals and A Very Potter Musical + Sequel. They're "totally awesome!" I love musicals (the depressingly few I've had the pleasure of seeing), classical music (though I'm sadly ignorant), playing the viola (but I'm not that great), mathematics (though I nearly failed the Calc exam), and a wide selection of books (though I rarely get to read as much as I'd like to), and I plan on pursuing a career in engineering (probably mechanical). Happy reading! |
