![]() Author has written 86 stories for Stargate: Atlantis, Firefly, and NCIS: Los Angeles. I am a science fiction fan. I love it all, as a child I read Asimov, Heinlien, Bradbury, and my favorite Arthur C. Clark. As a girl, I was suppose to not be interested in science; in seventh grade, girls took home economics, the boys got to take science. The mistake they made was holding the classes in adjoining classrooms with a door between them. After being removed from the science class after sneaking in numerous times and still going back; the powers to be gave up and I became the first female to take a science class in junior high ever in my school system. I have a BS in Microbiology and worked in the field for many years before I took another path but I am really a frustrated astronomer. After school, I watched the silly scifi movies of the 1950's every afternoon at 4 pm and then became fans of Star Trek, Star Wars, and most of all, Stargate. Richard Dean Anderson once said that the stargate was the best prop ever and he was right. I love the original series and with a long time fascination of Atlantis mythology, Stargate Atlantis became my favorite. Blending the Atlantis myth with the Stargate storyline was brilliant. The last brilliant thing the creators of the series did; you only need to read my first posted story, The Universe, to know how I feel about SGU. Not a fan. When I found this site through the forum on GateWorld, I was so happy. The exceptional stories and authors here have kept this series alive and helped to develop the characters the way the producers should have. All of you have inspired me to go back to something I loved, writing, and I am having a lot of fun playing with these characters. I think you can probably tell that Lt. Colonel John Sheppard is my favorite, I love this hero with flaws and everything, this character is the consummate hero, I think. For me, he replaced Han Solo but watching Star Wars again, I see a lot of similarities in the characters. I guess I love them both...but the other Atlantis characters, main and supporting are wonderfully crafted. As for my life that pays the bills, I live in Lexington, KY with two kitties and I am a human resource type person, focusing on recruitment, retention, and training. However, I would rather be writing. Thanks to all of you who have read my stories and to those of you who have sent reviews, I really appreciate it. I love hearing the good and the bad, it helps me become a better writer. Please let me know what you think. Have a wonderful 2010! |
