Yes, I am Canadian. No, I do not always end my thoughts or speech with 'eh', in fact I rarely ever do. Yes, I am a fan of Japanese and British works. No, I don't know a lot of purely-Canadian genres or creations, almost none, actually. Yes, I put 'u's in words that Americans usually don't. No, I don't write over a plate of maple syrup, pancakes and bacon - well, I might, if I'm writing during a rare Sunday breakfast. Yes, it is cold up here, but during the winter, when it's cold for most people above the equator, so I won't freeze halfway through writing a story. No, I don't live in an igloo - I wouldn't be writing this in the first place if I did. Yes, I'm done my little rant now. No, I will not end with a glorious shout of 'My name is Kiki, and I. AM. I'm not usually one to throw together a very good story and frankly, I don't have a lot of confidence in my writing ability. I'm extremely bad at creating good, linear plots and making stories last because I normally fall out of a writing mood before it's complete. One thing I am good at is stream-of-consciousness type writing; while I struggle with length and coherency, I am comfortable with rambling, inner thoughts and motives behind actions. (This might be because I'm considered a little mad myself by friends.) These stream-of-consciousness stories normally delve a little into the serious, even if it may begin or end as funny. I try not to write a lot of plain romance; family relationships and friendships are much more potent with me and I love reading about it. A good friend or a loving family is just as important, if not more than a lover. Family and friendships can also end up being gloriously funny due to character interactions. If I do write involving romance, I will usually fall towards humour if I'm able, because I just love comedy. Serious stories, relationships and tones are not foreign to me though, and sometimes I do like taking a bit of a plunge into some heavy themes.
I enjoy reading other peoples stories, usually reviewing them and encouraging others to write more. Unlike my writing preferences, I will read most anything, except if it's excessively violent or unnecessarily sad or 'angsty'. I hate horror and gore is not pleasant at all. Neither is crossing the threshold from 'I'm going to bawl my eyes out' to plain and simple 'shut up, you're just a whiny git' territory. I'm a hopeless romantic, yes, and a bit of a bleeding heart, so pairings are more than okay with me. In most cases, I'll stray away from non-canon couples or ones that just really make no sense for whatever reasons (their personalities just clash, logic defying couple, no interest is shown between them before this point, etc). There are exceptions to that rule, mostly in the circumstance where the writing makes up for the strangeness of the couple. If it's funny, I'm most likely to be reading it.
