Boats with feelings, what do?

The original has so much potential if it was written with at least a little sanity, so I gave it my best shot while also trying my hardest not to self-insert. I try to stick to the lore as much as I can, while adding some other stuff. This is a lot slower than most other stories in this genre. It's also the first draft, and subject to editing and retconning.
