A promotion brings Max Goof back to Spoonerville- er, rather to a nearby town called Ralington, but it's still too close to the things (and people) he hoped to leave behind when he left five years ago. Can he still distance himself from his past? Not if his father can (inadvertently) help it.

Science, holidays and drama galore, the last few chapters make for some pretty heart wrenching lore. It's mostly just mundane family drama, but near the end, things get pretty dark.

Alvin gets stuck by lightening and passes away at the hospital. When he meets the Father, he begs him to bring him back down to earth so he can say goodbye to his brothers before he goes. The father allows it and now Alvin only has 2 days to spend with his brothers and to make sure that they are able to move on without him.
