AN: Hey guys thanks for any reviews/ PM I have received they really mean a lot and with that said it's onwards with the story.

Clary's point of view

A few seconds passed before the danger came into view.

I frowned slightly trying to make them out before realising who they were: Palace guards.

Quickly I looked over to where Luke and Sam were hiding and clearly saw that they were almost as shocked as me.

That meant that they weren't meant to be here then.

So why were they here?

Suddenly Sam sprung out of the bushes and said "Hey guys, what are you doing out here?"

I face palmed silently and looked at Luke questioningly to see that he was lying unconscious on the ground next to where he'd been in hiding.

Flashes of panic went through my body before I managed to regain control the panic quickly changing into anger.

Jace touched my arm and tilted his head silently telling me to relax.

I nodded and watched Sam as he suggested that they sat down and rested for a while.

Sam then said "You can come out now."

Jace stupidly stood up and walked over to them before gesturing to me and saying "Come on, come out."

I pulled my hood up carefully this time as I stood and made sure that it covered my face and that none of my hair was showing.

Now they all looked at me and I nearly gasped at what I saw.

The guards weren't guards at all. They were demons. Glamoured demons.

I stepped back involuntarily and stared at them trying to see if I was just hallucinating but apparently I wasn't.

So I drew my sword out carefully and gripped it tightly.

The demons hissed in their own language which made Jace and Sam frown and Sam asked "What are you doing?"

They suddenly let all the glamour drop and both Sam and Jace's jaws dropped open as they hissed and then lunged at me twelve to one.

I muttered "And I used to say my life was bad back home."

Quickly I glanced at all of my allies, Sam and Jace were still in shock and Luke was unconscious still.

I sighed and said "And why doesn't this surprise me? All of the people I am traveling with are either unconscious or still in shock, just my bloody luck."

As the demons were now circling me I formed my own little plan on how they could and probably would attack and how to defend myself.

As usual I was right so as the first few demons lunged at me I swung my sword up easily cutting two of the demons straight in half.

After killing about four more demons my sword was knocked out of my hand which was a bit annoying but I quickly picked up my dagger and said "Bring it on."

Suddenly after killing two more demons I was thrown backwards into a tree which made my vision go blurry for a few seconds and by the time it cleared enough for me to be able to fight again a demon was on top of me preparing me as dinner.

As it drew down my hood it stopped in pure surprise and it asked "You're a girl?"

I growled "Woman." Before punching it in the side of the head, knocking it off me and clambering to my feet carefully but also quickly so I was prepared.

Now that demon lunged at me again I threw an arrow from my pack which typically hit the heart just as another demon scratched my cheek slightly with its claw.

I soon kicked it back which made it stumble, trip over and then land on its stomach letting me jump up on its back and stab it through the heart before rolling off ready to fight off more demons.

As it turned out there actually was no more demons, apparently I'd killed them all or some had run away.

I scanned the area carefully checking for more demons but the trees were now humming with happiness which I presumed meant that the demons had gone.

I sighed in relief before then rounding on Jace and Sam who were still staring at me their jaws dropped open which caused me to growl angrily "Thanks for helping me out there guys, I really appreciate it."

Sam answered weakly "You just fought off twelve demons all by yourself and you're a girl?"

Now I was extremely pissed off as I snapped "Why did you think that I couldn't defend myself before I took this quest up just because I'm a girl? How sexist do you freaking posh idiots actually get?"

Sam just stared at me as I continued "And how much of an idiot are you to think that they were actually palace guards? You even knocked Luke freaking unconscious because of it and guess what they weren't even guards! Did your family never tell you stories of demons who changed into anything or something?! How can you be such an idiot?!"

Jace snapped back "Don't blame him, that glamour was pretty strong."

I spun to face him as I answered in equal anger "And you just trusting him after Luke's lying there unconscious and the guards hissing at each other? You only have to think harder to see through glamour but do you even think of that? No you bloody well don't."

Sam replied strongly "Stop swearing Clarissa, it's not ladylike."

I now screamed "YOU THINK THAT I ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT SWEARING IN FRONT OF TWO POSH TWATS BECAUSE IT'S NOT LADYLIKE?! WELL YOU CAN THINK AGAIN YOU IDIOT BECAUSE I COME FROM THE POOREST SOCIETY AND YOU WANT ME TO BE POLITE TO YOU FUCKING MORONS AND ACT LADY LIKE! ALL I CAN SAY TO THAT IS FUCK YOU! AND YOU DO NOT CALL ME CLARISSA; YOU CALL ME CLARY, NOTHING ELSE!"

I tried to calm myself down but it wasn't working so I just swung around and punched the nearest thing, which inappropriately happened to be a tree trunk.

Great now my knuckles were all cut because my anger went over the top again.

Now that my anger had gone away, the pain of punching the tree shot into my hand but I ignored it when I realised that Luke was pretty badly hurt.

I stormed over to his body and studied his injuries carefully.

Sam and Jace tried to approach me but I shot them a death glare which stopped them in their tracks automatically.

I grabbed some moss and started peeling bark off some of the trees and slowly tied a bandage around his wounds.

When I was finished Sam asked me "Is he going to be okay?"

I looked at him sharply and said "He won't wake for a while and he may have a bit of a memory loss but he should be okay."

Now I turned to get the horses that had very surprisingly stayed during the fight and my yelling afterwards.

I managed to tie Luke up to his horse and then his horse joined to my own one so he hopefully wouldn't fall off.

I then grabbed a few of the weapons that were lying on the floor which I had used in the fight and placed them where they belonged before jumping on my horse and telling the other two boys "You better get ready or I may actually consider killing you."

Both boys now scrambled towards their horses and then were soon ready to go which I nodded at and kicked my horse in the sides sharply and said "Move on."

My horse now galloped along next to Luke's one, apparently getting the idea that I really wanted to make camp to look after Luke better.

Suddenly a familiar voice called out "Clary?"

I slowed my horses pace my hand already on my sword in case as I answered "Magnus?"

Shadows moved around in front of me until a figure stepped out and drew down its hood revealing my only other friend Magnus Bane.

I grinned and jumped off my horse and said "It is you right?"

Magnus laughed, his yellow cat eyes shining with his amusement as he said "Of course Sweetheart, who else would it be?"

I told him "Well we just had a fight with twelve demons as you're well aware of I'm sure and you can never be too careful around here."

Magnus grinned and told me "Well actually it was just you fighting the demons, one was knocked out and the other two were a bit surprised I think. And did you ever doubt that I didn't know Miss Clarissa?"

I smiled as I answered "Not for one second, and how many times will I have to tell you not to call me Clarissa?"

Magnus smirked and replied "Just once more as always Clarissa."

To reply I just raised my eyebrows challenging him slightly as he asked me "Where is my usual greeting hug then?"

I rolled my eyes but stepped forwards into Magnus' arms and asked "Do you think you have enough room for us for the day?"

Magnus tilted his head fake thinking before saying "Hmmm of course Claire Bear. Let's go."

I offered him politely "You want to ride on my horse?"

Magnus grinned and said "Deal."

As Magnus decided to be Magnus he jumped into my arms bridal style which made me stagger slightly from the impact but I easily lifted him up onto my horse before jumping on myself and saying "Which one are we heading too?"

Magnus said "The summer one."

I nodded and started moving in the direction of the summer hut when Jace called out "Wait Clary. Who is he?"

I called back "An old friend, Magnus Bane. I'll explain it later. He has a hut not far from here where we can stay a while."

After a while Magnus called "Okay stop here and wait a few seconds."

I let him slide off my horse before doing so myself and then saying to Jace and Sam "Before you say you can't see anything, just look."

Both boys frowned and went to ask me how I knew but I quickly dismissed them and said "Later."

I could tell by their gasps that they now saw the hut sitting there.

Magnus helped me take Luke inside whereas Jace and Sam tied the horses together.

He soon asked "How did he get knocked unconscious?"

I looked at him and said "You know how already."

Manus bowed his head and told me "I'm trying to make some conversation here Fray."

I rolled my eyes and said "Then talk about something you don't already know about our journey so far."

That made Magnus sigh and he said "Fine. Why are you on your journey then?"

I glanced over to Sam and Jace who were standing in the doorway awkwardly as I told Magnus "We're hunting down some things."

Magnus repeated "Things?"

I cleared my throat slightly and said "Fourteen things."

That made his eyes widen considerably and he asked "And would these fourteen things happen to be from the ancient tale which your father told us years ago?"

Jace and Sam asked "What?!"

I glanced at them before looking back and saying "Yes."

Magnus ran a hand through his spikey hair and said "Claire you know that doing this is practically walking into a death trap."

I looked at the floor as I said "I know."

"But do you really Clary?"

My green eyes met golden ones and I nodded and asked "Do you not remember that time when I threw myself in front of the demons for you and Ruby? I only just lived because Jocelyn had been teaching Ruby medicines and there was some nearby. And I think the two of us know that if there hadn't have been any medicine nearby I would have died happily if it meant saving you."

That earned me a look and Magnus' reply of "I know you would but this is everyone not just me and Ruby."

I snapped back "Well that makes this even more worthwhile because then I save a majority of the country."

Magnus nodded before ordering us "Make yourselves at home, get some rest because trust me, you're going to need it."

I gave Magnus a mock salute and an "Aye aye Captain."

Magnus gave me an eye roll before he said "You are unbelievable sometimes Fray."

"And that's why you love me Bane." I answered with a smirk.

"Simon is seriously rubbing off on you huh?"

I shrugged and asked "Does it count if I start quoting things more than normal?"

Magnus hesitated for barely a second before answering "Yes, yes it does."

"Then yes, he is rubbing off on me." I answered back to Magnus' previous question.

Magnus laughed and told me "Yeah and then you rub off on me, which, I can promise you, is most certainly not a good thing."

I pouted at that statement but didn't reply as I walked over to the fire and started it up again.

Jace then asked "Why does everyone seem to know this tale except me and Sam?"

I answered him without looking at him "Because us, peasants, don't have all the luxuries you rich people have, we only have myths and legends and each other to rely on when we are not working our asses off trying to afford everything we need."

Sam stepped forwards demanded "What do you mean luxuries that us rich people get? And all of us rich people work just as hard as you peasants do and how dare you speak peasant as though you have a right to disrespect us who are higher than you."

My anger flared as I spun on my heels and snapped "This is exactly what I mean. You are so used to having so many things they aren't even considered a luxury. Let me go through a list of things that maybe you should think about before you dismiss us so freely. You get practically automatic hot water for washing and anything else; you can just go outside and buy food and other necessary equipment without even thinking about how much everything is and how long it would last. You get a nine to five job and still get paid five times as much as we do.

And how dare I speak of the word that I hear you people call me with disrespect every day? You are the one with no right to say that word to my face not me to yours."

Sam stared at me, completely shocked along with Jace but Magnus just looked slightly amused though slightly surprised at my outburst for a moment but soon his smirk was back and he said into the awkward silence that now hung in the air "This is going to be a great night isn't it?"

I barely glanced at Magnus as I said "Fantastic."

Magnus rolled his eyes at me before noticing my hand and asking "What happened there Claire Bear?" then he became a bit more concerned "It wasn't the demons was it?"

I glanced down at my hand and shook my head and told him "No actually I punched a tree."

Cat like eyes studied me carefully and I sighed slightly and said "No I didn't plan to punch the tree, I was going to punch the nearest thing to me and it happened to be a tree trunk, that's all."

Magnus sighed and held his hand out for me to place mine in his, and as soon as mine landed in his he muttered a spell and I watched my cuts all slowly heal together until they vanished completely, my skin looking as fresh as it had done before I had cut it open.

I quietly said "Thank you."

Magnus' hand came down on my shoulder lightly and he said "I'll go and work on your friend."

I nodded and moved towards Jace and Sam and said "Make yourselves at home, or as much as you can I guess you rich people aren't used to sleeping on the floor."

Same glared at me sharply but Jace just chuckled and offered "Not unless you count the times I've been wasted."

I rolled my eyes and said "Not quite what I meant, but I guess it means something if you can sleep in your own vomit and on the floor."

Silence fell across us again as I started rolling out my sleeping bag and the only time it was broken really was as I laid down and called to the other two "I suggest you two try to get some sleep as well, it's a long journey to go yet."

I listened to the two boys shuffling around trying to sort out their sleeping bags like mine and I was only half awake by the time both of them had settled down and said to me "Good night Clary."

The only response they got from me then was a soft murmur of goodnight back before sleep dragged me back into its clutches and I lost all consciousness of the world as it slowly faded to black.

Jace's point of view

A few moments after Clary's very faint goodnight her breathing became lighter and I smiled as I realised she'd already fallen to sleep.

I was about to follow her suit and laid down on my back with my arms behind my head, ready to get some sleep but Sam's voice soon asked "Is she always that hating towards rich people?"

A laugh rose out of my throat as I told him "Yeah she normally is, but it doesn't stop her from helping us otherwise she wouldn't be here and we'd be dead by now."

Sam sighed before asking "Do you know where she learnt to fight like that?"

I paused and turned on my side and propped myself up on my elbow and answered "Her father taught her I think. He excepted more sons and she was his first ever daughter so he raised her as a son too, teaching her how to fight and how to fend for herself. She may not have liked him all that much and I admit he was a bastard to her but in a weird way he has been a part of what has kept her moving on by telling her she could do anything his sons could. I mean if he hadn't had said those things to her think about what would have happened, her family would have starved, my friend's brother would be dead, we would be dead and so many more things. So in a way she respects her father more than even she realises."

Sam looked at me carefully and asked "How do you know this stuff about her when you've only just met her?"

I smiled and answered him "Because I haven't just met her. We've met at least once a year since she was seven and I was eight. Always on the same day as well, like something just pulled us together on that day."

A couple of minutes passed in silence before Magnus' voice broke the silence "Aww what a cute tale, she's told me about some of the times you met her. Not by her choice so much, more her friend let it slip and I wouldn't leave her alone until she told me."

I looked at Magnus who grinned and said "And she wasn't kidding when she said you have a long journey you know, you should get as much rest as you can. I'll look after Luke whilst you boys and my pretty Claire Bear sleep."

Sam glared at Magnus as he settled down as though he disapproved of his nickname for Clary and he was soon asleep so it was up to me to say thanks like normal "Um thanks I guess, if anything happens just wake one of us up."

Magnus nodded and said "Of course, but now it's time for you to sleep as well, no one can find us here."

I nodded again as I stifled a yawn and finally laid back down and the last thing I remember seeing was a pair of bright green glowing emerald eyes.
