The late spring rain fell heavy in sheets upon the deep purple of the Capricorns umbrella. It was June 12th, a special date to him he held close in his mind and heart, and was one of the very few things he remembered. Other things would seemingly rise to the ceiling in the smoke coming from a lit blunt that his room mate hated to smell. Fumbling he unlocks the door to their shared rental home, a small box inside of his pocket causing the keys to be harder to reach.

"Kaaaaarrr!" The lanky male yells into the dimness of the house. Silence. He furrows his brows, walking more into the home and looking around. More silence. Gamzee stops when walking past a piece of paper on the small table near the door and raises a brow, picking up the paper. He recognized the messy hand writing as his best friend and room mates.

'Dear gamzee,
Gonna be out today for a while don't worry, I'll be back whenever.'

The Capricorn blinks and furrows his brows again, contemplating before he started to remember, his mind flashing back to years ago, when they were at grade school. Gamzee had asked Karkat what he was doing for his birthday, to which Karkat looked at him and told him we was visiting his mother. It wasn't until highschool and Karkat wasn't at school on his birthday that Gamzee realized the odd tradition. Karkat the day after had told him after countless badgering that when he was born that his mom died and he would Apologize to her every birthday he had. During sophomore year he found out the hard way that Karkats dad abused him and told him it was his fault the albinos mother had died, that he was a devil and a burden. A murderer. Gamzee had hated that. He hated that man, he hated that house and had wanted karkat out. He got out eventually, his dad having kicked him out for liking and dating a male. He had come to gamzees door step broken and bleeding, collapsing against him.

Gamzee tenses and turns, stuffing his keys in his pocket and walking out with the sopping wet umbrella, rushing out of the house and down two blocks to the cemetery.

"KARRRRBROOOO?" The taller male yells. The rain drowned away his call, Gamzee rushing through the headstones, soaking the purple canvas of his sneakers. Eventually he comes across the shivering small form of his friend, knees dug into the moist grass and mud,his hair stuck to his solemn face. His hands were in his lap and his eyes were rimmed with red, and he was silently staring at the head stone. You stand so that the umbrella keeps the rain from hitting him anymore. The change in weather, or simulated change. Karkat glances up and scowls before looking back at the grave stone.

"What do you want…" The small male mutters softly. Gamzee sighs and puts a hand out for him, Karkat taking a hold and standing after a few minutes of contemplation.

"Lets get you home and washed up. You're soaked and muddy… You're gonna get sick…" Gamzee wraps an arm around his shoulders, beginning to walk back to the house with the cancer, rubbing his arm in an attempt to warm the cool skin slightly.

"Don't worry…you aren't a killer…you're not a mistake… You're a miracle and always will be " the Capricorn smiles "b'sides.. She's watching you and still loves you all the same." The cancer bites his lip and just leans more against the Capricorns thin figure.

"Alright…"
