I can't believe this has become my life. How did I become so dependent on others for every day normal activities? It's because I'm as huge as a cow. Christian is on a very important conference call in his study and I don't want to interrupt him. Gail was given the day off and is currently on a dinner date with Taylor. There's no way in hell I'm calling Sawyer to come help me with my predicament. Suddenly, I burst into tears at how pathetic my life has become. My phone starts ringing and I answer it without looking to see who's calling.
"Hello" I state in a shaky breath.
"What's wrong Ana?" Elliot's voice echoes over the speaker. His sweet, concerning voice makes me wallow in pity even more. I am unable to catch my breath as the sobs wrack my body.
"I'm stuck" I wail into the phone at my brother-in-law.
"What do you mean you're stuck? Where's Christian?" Elliot demands.
"He's on a conference call and I can't get out of the bathtub" I choke out. I'm met with silence at the other end of the phone.
"Elliot!" I cry into the phone. "I'm stuck in the tub."
"Ana, calm down." He quietly says. "I've seen your tub, there's no way that you are stuck. Even you aren't that big yet."
His words just cause me to blubber into the phone. "I really can't get out of the tub Elliot. There's no one here to help me until Christian gets off his call. My legs are like jelly and I can't stand up." I begin hyperventilating into the phone.
"Ana, you've got to relax. Take a deep breath. In and Out. That's it my girl." Elliot's soothing voice just barely keeps me from becoming hysterical. "Now, I'm going to text Christian and let him know what's going on."
"Noooo!" I demand. "It's a very important business call. I don't want to be a bother."
"Dammit, Ana. His almost nine-month pregnant wife cannot get out of the tub. I don't think he'll give a fuck about the call." Elliot growls into the phone.
Elliot is usually all fun and games but he can also be the biggest sweetheart. His concern for me just makes me cry more.
"Ok" I hiccup into the phone. Elliot tells me to stay on the phone with him until Christian comes to my aid. No more than a few seconds pass before I hear heavy footsteps through the condo and Christian comes barreling through the bathroom door. His frantic expression just makes me weep into my hands, causing my phone to fall into the water.
"Ana, baby, what's wrong?" Christian questions as he comes to kneel besides the tub. He reaches into the tub and pulls out my ruined cell phone. "Talk to me, baby." He gently runs his hand up and down my back.
"My legs feel like jelly and I can't get out of the tub." I mumble into my hands.
Christian easily reaches into the tub and gently lifts me up into his arms. He sits down on the edge of the tub, still cradling me in his arms. I fist his shirt in my hands and cry into his neck. He rocks us back and forth, slowly.
"Ana, I thought I asked you not to take a bath unless I was nearby and available to help you." He gently admonishes me. "I don't want anything to happen to you."
I bury my face deeper into his neck. I'm so embarrassed and ashamed of myself. Christian tries to lift my face away from his shoulder in order to look at me, but I refuse. I feel him digging through his pockets and then hear him answer his phone.
"Elliot, thanks for texting me." He pauses briefly before resuming his talk to his brother. "Ana's fine, just a little upset." Christian listens to Elliot before responding in the affirmative and then hanging up.
"Elliot and Kate are going to come by in a little bit to help cheer you up." Christian says softly into my ear.
I shake my head in the negative but Christian stops me. "Ana, you've been a little sad and depressed the last few days and I think some company would be helpful tonight."
He's right. I don't know what has been wrong with me the last few days but I've been clingy and miserable and I don't understand what's going on. I nod my head letting Christian know that I heard him and understand. He carries me to the bedroom and gingerly sets me onto the bed. He goes to our closet and selects some comfortable clothes for me to wear. Christian lovingly dresses me before he carries me to the living room and sits down on the couch with me in his arms.
"Ana, I want you to tell me what's been going on in that pretty little head of yours." I sniffle into his shoulder and he tells me to use his shirt to wipe my nose. His sweet gesture causes me to quietly cry again.
"I'm scared Christian." I finally murmur.
"What are you afraid of, Baby?" He questions quietly.
"I don't want to do this alone." I softly state.
"Ana, do you know me at all?" Christian grins at me with a disbelieving look etched onto his face. "What in the world makes you think I would let you do any of this alone?"
"Your family thinks you're either going to pass out or go postal when I go into labor and that means I'm going to have to go through this alone."
"Baby, I love you more than anything in this world." He kisses me softly on my lips. "Yes, I'm probably going to go a little crazy when the time comes, but nothing could keep me from your side." He places his hands on both sides of my face and turns my head to make sure I'm looking deep into his eyes. "That might be the most absurd idea that has ever cross your mind, Mrs. Grey" Christian is trying to bite back a smile from forming.
I stare at him for a long moment before I realize how utterly stupid I have been. Of course, control freak Christian won't leave my side for a second. I kiss him on his check. "Thank you for always being there for me, Christian."
After a few moments of cuddling with my husband, I remember that Christian's conference call was interrupted by my earlier predicament. "I'm sorry that your call was so rudely interrupted."
"Fuck those fuckers!" Christian barks. "They were getting on my fucking nerves and nothing pleases me more than helping my naked, wet wife."
I giggle at my silly husband and then turn to the elevator at the sound of it's arrival. Elliot comes barging into our living room wearing a full fire fighters outfit.
"I'm here to rescue pregnant woman from unfortunate circumstances" Elliot declares.
I can't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the entire situation. Kate comes in from behind her boyfriend, rolling her eyes at his antics. She gives me a big hug and then sits down on side of Christian. Elliot gives me a kiss on my head before plopping down on the ottoman in front of us.
"Ready for some fun, Ana." He glares at me while rubbing his hands together.
"What do you have in mind, Elliot?" I question. You never know what bright idea has popped into his head.
"Blindfolded Diaper Changing!" Elliot barks while whipping out two naked baby dolls.
"What the fuck?" Christian moans.
"Let's see who can put a diaper on the quickest while blindfolded." Elliot clarifies.
Christian grumbles loudly. "This is stupid, Elliot."
"You're just mad because you're going to lose." Elliot hands Kate a baby doll and diaper and asks me if I'm up for the challenge.
I jump up as quickly as a heavily pregnant woman can. We all make our way over to the kitchen island where the games will take place. Christian blindfolds me and Elliot does the same for Kate. There's a baby in front of each of us and we are holding a diaper.
"On your marks. Get set. Go!" Elliot screams.
I race to get the diaper on as quickly as possible. Right as I am finishing up, I hear a loud crash. I pull off the blindfold and see everyone looking at the floor. Kate's baby is face down on the floor with the diaper wrapped around its neck.
"You're not allowed to touch my baby." Christian yells.
"Slippery little thing." Kate mumbles, looking sheepishly towards me.
"Let the men show you how it's done." Elliot states. They get into their positions. Babies are in front of them, diapers in hands, and blindfolds on. On our "go" they start rushing to try to put on the diapers. My abdomen hurts from laughing so hard.
"Done!" Christian yells and takes off his blindfold.
"Dammit!" Elliot grumbles and removes his blindfold as well. We all examine their attempts in total silence.
"Dude, you amputated your child's leg." Elliot bellows, laughing uncontrollably while pointing at Christian's baby.
"At least I know where a diaper goes. You are suffocating my kid." Christian laughs, pointing out the fact that Elliot wrapped the diaper around the baby's head.
Christian and Elliot continue to race each other trying to get the diapers on correctly. After an hour of still not getting it right, they finally give up. Elliot and Kate declare that it's getting late and decide to leave.
Christian guides me to our bedroom where he helps to undress me before we climb under the covers. He grabs his phone and starts watching you-tube videos on how to properly place a diaper on a baby. After a few minutes, he some how found a video of a baby who had poop running up his back into his hair.
"Holy fuck!" Christian looks at the screen in utter disgust. "This cannot be normal. Right?" He questions.
"It happens." I grin at my adorable husband.
"What?" He blankly stares at me. "Shit?"
"Yep. Shit happens." I state. "And you told me that you will be by my side for everything, so you better get used to it, Baby."
"I'll be by your side in a hazmat suit." He grins before kissing me goodnight.
Before I drift off to sleep, I hear Christian whisper in amazement "That was a lot of fucking shit!"
