"Small popcorn, or large?" I asked. Zia smiled.
"Small. I don't really like popcorn and if we get a large you will be forced to bring back popcorn. And I don't think I could do that to your couch." Zia said grabbing the small popcorn.
"Whatcha want to drink?" I asked again.
"Water, Please."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Huh." I smiled. , "A water and a Dr. Pepper please." The man had a blank face and passed us our drinks. He was about a few years older. One of those teenagers that dye their hair the color of like a tomatoes just to get noticed? That was this guy. Except his hair was a bright "Disney Princess" pink.
"16.90." He said with a blank tone. I went to hand him a twenty but I pulled back and thought a second.
"Can we have two slushies, too?" I slipped an extra two bucks on the counter. The man nodded and handed us two slushies with the same blank stare (a toaster had more personality.).
"What is a slushie? Zia asked confused. I smiled and handed it to her. She was so cute.
"What do I do with this?"
"Drink it."
"Americans…." She grumbled taking a sip. I watched her lips grasp the straw and her eyes watch the red slushie rush up the straw. As soon as it hit her mouth her eyes got wide.
"This is…"
"Good?"
"YES!" She yelped with excitement. She drank it again. We walked to our section of the theater and sat in the way back. The lights faded and everybody quitted down.
"Zia, um…I don't think-" I said concerned. She put a hand in my face, as she just sucked away.
"The more I talk to you the more time I don't spend eating this." She said. I fist palmed. Then, she grasped her forehead. , "Ow." She cried in a whisper. , "The drink has hurt me."
"No. It's called a brain freeze." I sighed.
"Well, that name is accurate." She grumbled.
"Yes. Yes it is."
*Two Hours later.*
"I swear." Zia exclaimed as the ending credits came on. She grabbed the empty slushie container and crushed it in her hand. She muttered a word and it burst in flames. I walked back a few steps. , "That zookeeper was a magician. Animals can't talk without some charm. "
"Ic-snay on the Magic-hey." I sighed. , "And put that fire out,please."
"No." She said, "Not until this cup suffers." As the cup became cinders the flame jumped to my seat. The people sitting down there gave us wide eyes and froze.
The flame started down the row of seats like my sister when she saw a Doctor Who marathon on the T.V.
"Zia….." I complained scooting a little closer to her. In some situations I would've been very happy being so close. Not when there's fire involved, thank you very much. , "The movies were the last place we weren't banned from." She glared at me, the fire seeming as if it wasn't going anywhere.
"Shut up. The ice-ring was your fault."
*One fire put out later*
You're probably wondering what we did to put out the fire. Nothing magical. It involved me in the girl's bathroom for water. (The boy's sink was clogged with gum.) Popcorn-butter and tweezers. Don't ask.
"Sign here and here." The manager sighed. He pointed to places on the form with a lazy finger. I signed making sure to look at Zia in the corner of my eye.
"That good?" I asked handing the pen to Zia. She signed once.
"Almost. I also need a hundred dollars for the repairs." He said. I grumbled and reached into the wallet. I handed him the money and walked out as he counted it out.
"How did you have so much money on you?" Zia asked opening the door. I ran my hand through my slightly singed hair.
"Long story. Um I'm broke. This is Sadie's wallet. She said I could borrow a few bucks…." I said. Zia raised an eyebrow and chuckled.
"She's going to kill you."
"I know."
The End
