A/N: So I watched the newest series a while ago and it made me sad for some reason. Especially Himawari's phone call. I was also quite surprised that (SPOILERS) she was married. I didn't really like the sound of her husband (though that was probably just me), and I got around to thinking about her starting an actual family, baby and everything. So this is just a "Watanuki finds out!" fic with Doumeki and Mokona and con-fron-tations. Yes, I did that on purpose.

Oh yeah, title grabbed from a Dirty Pretty Things song.

Review if you like it or want to talk about your own opinions on Himawari's husband!

Wondering

"Pregnant?" Watanuki looks up at Doumeki with wide eyes. He lowers his pipe slightly. "Well, that's certainly something."

Doumeki nods and takes another sip of his sake.

"When…" Watanuki trails off. "When did she tell you this?"

"She telephoned you earlier today."

Watanuki frowns. "And of course you were the one to pick it up."

"You were busy."

"It wasn't like I was with a customer or anything."

"Hmm."

"So… so Himawari-chan is really… going to have a baby?"

"Hmm."

"Heh, I guess that means we can't really call her Himawari-chan anymore."

"You were the only one who called her that. I called her Kunogi."

"Oh, shut up you big jerk! Anyways, you can't call her Kunogi anymore either!"

Watanuki punches Doumeki in the arm lightly and Mokona giggles from his perch next to Doumeki. Watanuki is surprised that the little black creature had been quiet for so long. Silence reigns as the two start another round of drinking and Watanuki relights his pipe.

Finally, Watanuki finds the courage to ask the question that's been at the front of his mind since the conversation had begun.

"Doumeki…"

The tall, stoic man looks up.

"Have you ever, you know, wanted to be like Himawari-ch… I mean, Himawari?

Doumeki raises a slender eyebrow. "Pregnant?"

"No, you idiot!" Watanuki calms himself down. "I mean, have you ever wanted to… I don't know, be married? Did you ever want to start a family?"

Doumeki is silent for a while before he shrugs. "Not really. I like it here. I like doing your shopping and drinking with Mokona. I like working with Kohane-chan. I even like Maru and Moro greeting me at the door. And… I like being in Yuuko's shop."

Watanuki jerks suddenly and fumbles with his pipe. "Idiot, don't say things like that."

The atmosphere slowly becomes less tense as the silence stretches on. Finally, Watanuki clears his throat to break it.

"Do you think… do you think he is good for her?"

Doumeki doesn't speak for a while. "I think that she is good for him." He nods confidently to himself. "They are a good match."

"Yeah, I suppose they are." Watanuki smiles down at his pipe. "Do you think she likes being with him?"

"Yes."

Watanuki puts down his pipe and pours more sake for Mokona, who had begun to whine. "She hasn't come around for a while. I know it's because he doesn't… understand…"

"She said she'd telephone again soon, Kimihiro. Just let it be."

Watanuki frowns at the use of his name. The frown deepens when he sees Doumeki holding out his glass, silently demanding a refill.

"Tch, you haven't changed at all since we were younger."

"Neither have you."

Watanuki smiles solemnly and reaches for the sake. "Yeah, I know."
