SUBJECT: A Personal Request

Dear Ms. McCoy:

Happy holidays to you and your family. I heard that Atlanta enjoyed a white Christmas this year.

The Enterprise is currently in spacedock undergoing routine maintenance. And while many of our human crewmembers have enjoyed spending time with their families, Leo has been shut away in his old lab at the Academy, despite numerous invitations and opportunities to join the many celebrations going on. That is the reason for the request I am making of you.

I have not spoken with Leo about this, but court records show that you have sole custody of Joanna, with ad hoc visitation rights for Leo upon mutual agreement of both parties. I'm aware that custody during the winter holidays alternates, and although this is "your" year, I was hoping you might consider allowing Joanna to visit her father on New Year's Eve and the following day. I can arrange for her transportation to and from San Francisco, along with a Starfleet escort.

I apologize for the short notice, but please consider allowing Joanna to see her father—we don't know when we'll be back at Earth, so a visit would mean a lot to both of them. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Captain James T. Kirk, USS Enterprise

Dear Captain Kirk:

Fuck you.

Cordially,

Ms. Jocelyn McCoy

P.S. Mariella Howard's aunt is a member of my country club. Stay away from my court records or I will make sure every female on the East Coast knows what you did.

Uhura, N: Yes

Kirk, J: You verified that divorce and dependent custody filings are public record in Georgia?

Uhura, N: Georgia? I thought you said Kentucky…

Kirk, J: WTF??

Uhura, N: JK. Sorry. Yes, they're public record.

Kirk, J: OK. And thx for writing that message. I think I can make this happen.
