What's Love Got to Do With It?

You think you love her. It's obvious, the way you look at her. You bring a whole new meaning to the phrase "head over heels." Her kisses are sweet and you don't know it you'll ever get enough. That's what love is, isn't it?

Wrong, silly boy. Sure, looking good and kissing even better may lead to love, but it isn't really. The definition's a bit murkier than that. You can find it in the most mundane places, like a shop, hospital, school building, maybe you'll even find it in a striking blue Police Call Box. Love will take an ordinary girl, turn her extraordinary, and have her take your breath away.

Love is believing in a person, placing impossible trust on their shoulders and then holding them up when they're so close to falling. It's forgiving them for their mistakes, even the ones you weren't there to see them stumble over. Love is knowing what they want to say but can't for reasons you don't fully understand. It's being unafraid to stand up to them and challenge them. You have to take the bad, accept it, and show them how it's made them better.

You'll be in love when you know that there's not one thing you wouldn't do to make even an ounce of the pain they're feeling go away. Even if it's burning up a sun just to say goodbye. You'll feel it in every touch, see bits of her in everything around you. And if you lose her, you'll take the pain, you'll even embrace it because it's a part of her. You'll take what you can get until you can once again have her back and give her all she wants.

Do you still think you're in love? Had enough of those kisses yet? You have, or you wouldn't be here. You'd be with her instead of standing in front of me. Take my hand and when I say run don't ever look back. You be the Doctor while I'll play Rose and we'll see just where love fits into our impossible fairytale.

Author's Note: This reminds me of a chick-flick speech with an extra pop of nerd thrown in. Don't know where it came from, just popped itself in my head.
