Tested Waters

"You have to have sex with Cuddy," he told Wilson.

Inwardly, he cringed at the thought. Sure, Wilson was his buddy and he'd be happy to see Wilson get laid, but certainly not by Cuddy. He didn't want Wilson anywhere near having sex with Cuddy. Hell, he didn't even want Wilson and Cuddy on the same romantic radar. In fact, he wanted nothing more than to send Wilson running in the opposite direction. He would try sending Wilson flowers and a note again if he didn't already know that it wouldn't work.

Besides, the way he saw it now, Wilson and Cuddy having sex was the only way.

Because he'd already tested the waters with Cuddy by asking her to that play. She'd pretty quickly answered no, which clearly told House that it was too soon. She wasn't yet ready.

But maybe if she got this little fling with Wilson out of her system… Then she might be ready for House. At least that's what he figured. So, along that line of reasoning, he was going to push this thing between Cuddy and Wilson as hard as he could. Just so that he could see it get over with as soon as possible.
