"Your heart is sad..."

The voice was whisper soft, and Kohaku had to strain his ears to catch the softly spoken words. He knew the source automatically, and before he turned a vision of a small girl entered his mind, with eyes blacker than ebony and hair, skin and clothes of a pure white. She cocked her head to the side when his eyes met hers.

"I can heart its sighs..."

"What does Naraku wish of me now Kanna?" Kohaku said, his voice uncharacteristically bitter for his youth. His memories had yet to return, and he knew it was his masters fault. Just as he knew that Sango was somehow related to his past, that the jewel shard in his back kept him living, and that he was no more than a puppet, much like Kanna. She ignored hs query and walked towards him, mirror held upside down to counter its soul sucking nature.

"Nothing. Naraku has no need of you now Kohaku."

He hated and loved how she said his name. He hated the silence that surrounded it, likethe void she was named after, and yet he loved the way she spoke it slowly, as though cherishing every vowel and syllable that passed her lips. She spoke as though dreaming.

"I see." He said, and her gaze moved from his to look over the river they were standing by. It was rare of her to leave the palace without an order of some sort from their master, and it was even more rare to have her speak to him. "What is it you wish to see me about Kanna?" He asked.

The ghost of a smile crossed her lips, vanishing before he could ascertain whether or not it had actually happened. Her small hands moved and turned the mirror upside down. She whispered something, too quiet for him to hear, and then the gleaming surface glowed. She turned to face him again, bringing the mirror up a little. Sango's face rose in its mysterious depths.

"You were thinking of her were you not?" She said, watching his face as he looked at the face of his sister. She was laughing about something another had said, although there was no noise.

"I..."

"She thinks of you often, and she wishes she could find you."

"...How do you know all this?"

"I am the void Kohaku. I was born of it, I was named for it, and I embody it."

He pondered that while staring at the mirror. After a few moments it glowed again, and became a normal looking mirror. She quickly turned it upside down and looked into his eyes. There was a long pause.

"You are young Kohaku." She finally said. "Do not forget that."

Then, before he was fully aware of what she meant by that statement she walked close to him and stood on her tiptoes. Cold lips touched his cheek and he closed his eyes, almost wanting to cry over the simple contact.

When he opened tham again she was gone.

oooooooooo

Mrrrr...I'm not too sure what I was thinking, but I've always imagined Kanna to be a bit like Sesshomaru. It seems to me that she holds a wealth of emotions right under the calm facade that she always has, like Sesshomaru, and to be honest, I am a blatent Kanna/Kohaku shipper. Well...not blatent, I just like them. Preferably older. And together. In love.

Anyways, read and review this little thing for me and lemme know what you think!
