I obviously don't own Harry Potter. I have to say that. It's the law.

Harrison James Potter hasn't been happy in centuries.

Despite all of his many accomplishments in his 450 plus years of living, he hasn't truly been happy, despite coming close many times. The reason for his constant depression was a series of events that happened, but there was one catalyst.

The murder of his first love, Hermione Granger.

Flashback

It was a couple years after the "Golden Trio" graduated Hogwarts. Hermione became the new History Professor after Binns finally decided to move on, Ron worked as an Auror, and Harry became Head of the Unspeakables.

Those were happier days. Sure, Harry was heartbroken at the fact that his love chose another man before he could build up the courage to properly court her, but as long as she's happy, that was enough for him. As he returned to Grimmauld Place, an owl swooped through the intent based wards he had erected around his home, and flew through an open window to drop a letter on his desk.

'Wonder who this is from.' He pondered as he opened it and read the contents.

Dear Harry,

I've been keeping a major secret from you, and I just learned of another major secret that also involves you. Growing up, my mother would always read me bedtime stories of your "adventures", and kept telling me that one day I would marry you and be the new Potter Matriarch with all the power, prestige, and money. As an adult, I understand now that she was grooming me so that she can get to the Potter fortune herself, and I got over much obsession with you, but one of the major secrets I mentioned correlates to this. Hermione doesn't love Ron. She's been fed love potions in secret for years now.

When Harry read this, he almost tore the letter in a rage, before his Occlumency set in and he was able to calm down and continue the letter.

The second secret that I mentioned has to do with the Potter fortune. As your 'Magical Guardian' Dumbledore has the authority to go into your vaults and take money 'for your benefit'. It's been brought to my attention that Dumbledore has been using that money to fund the Order of the Phoenix, and to pay people to spy on you, including Ron.

Harry's Occlumency was working double time to keep his rage in check.

This will honestly be the most difficult thing I have to tell you. Hermione was murdered by Ron. It seems that even when she's under the love potion, she still found Ron to be repulsive, because she never had sex with him, and his patience ran out. When he ran into the house and explained what he did, I have never been more ashamed and disgusted with my family. Their first thought was that you shouldn't be told what happened. Using Occlumency, I hid my disgust and self-loathing, and went straight to my room to write you this letter. I so very sorry Harry.

Signed,

Ginny Weasley-Longbottom

This time he didn't bother to use Occlumency. He let his emotions pour out at the news that Hermione was dead. Murdered.

After he cried throughout the entire night, he decided that instead of seeking revenge, he would do it the right way, and seek justice.

Without preamble, he apparated straight to the DMLE, and walked with a purpose directly into the Head's office.

"Good morning Harry. How are—" greeted Susan Bones, new Head of the DMLE after her aunt stepped down. She was cut off by Harry dropping Ginny's letter on her desk in front of her.

"Oh no... poor Hermione. I'll issue arrest warrants immediately, and make sure you get back every knut they stole." Promised Susan as she got up.

"I don't care about the money really, I just want those monsters brought to justice." Harry replied tersely.

"Thank you for coming straight here instead of seeking revenge like others would have."

"It took me a long time to decide to come here, but please do what you need to and make sure justice is properly served." Then Harry turned and left.

He didn't even go to their trials. When he read the aftermath of the trials and found that Ginny and the twins were innocent, he sent the rest of the Potter fortune to them and split it between them.

Flashback end

He retired from anything to do with to do with the British Ministry, and roamed both the entire Magical and Mundane worlds. In honor of Hermione, he pursued knowledge for the sake of having knowledge. Thousands of dead arts revived thanks to his efforts. Hundreds of magical creature species thought to be extinct, rediscovered. The more he learned, the closer he felt to Hermione.

He was once told that he had a 'people saving thing', which was proven correct by the millions of lives he saved in his many years of living. Because of this, he has gained even more fame, but instead of one country, it's the entire world.

But throughout all of this. Not once did he smile. Not even all the times he ran into Luna Lovegood with her soft smile and eccentricities. Though her presence was always welcome and calming, he never once tried to pursue a relationship with her. He's had multiple lovers through the years, including Luna, but he had never had an actual relationship. He couldn't forget his first love.

Luna silently understood this, and never once pushed him. She chose to be his support without being romantically involved. All the way until her death right after her 157th birthday. Harry, being the Master of Death, sensed her upcoming death, so he made sure to spend extra time with her. Luna being the smart woman she is, understood why he was around more. She didn't question it and enjoyed her final days with the man she loved. She died with a smile on her face.

In the three centuries that passed Harry continued his quest for knowledge, and he took a century break to be a headmaster of Hogwarts. He was surprised with the sheer amount of knowledge that he missed when attending this school. He was even more surprised by the fact that Hogwarts herself was helping him in his quest. Hell, the fact that Hogwarts was alive was enough to surprise him.

But back to the present, Harry was walking with a strong stride through the ministry. His hood raised, and face wasn't showing, but everyone still moving out of his way in respect and reverence. The entire world knew of the mysterious, and powerful Lord Harry Potter.

In no time he made it to his destination, the Veil.

'Finally. Now I can join you both again, Hermione and Luna.' Harry thought as he took a step towards the object of his perceived freedom. The closer he got the lighter felt, but right before he walks through, a hand blocks him.

He sighs and backs up several steps as he watches a figure slowly step through the veil. Her curvy figure wasn't hidden by the cloak she wore. A hood covered her face with only cold blue eyes showing.

"Why haven't you accepted me, Death?" Harry asked lowly, clearly frustrated.

"I'm sorry young master, but it was unanimously decided that you must be returned back in time to change things properly. To stop the manipulations of an old man. To erode the corruption that plagued the British Magical Government. To save all of your loved ones." Death's melodious voice answered.

Noticing the slightly confused look on his face, she continued. "Yes, young master, it was more than just Hermione that loved you, and you her. To name a few there was Luna, the Patil twins, and even Daphne Greengrass. Fate decreed that Hermione was to be your first before all the others, but since you were blocked from her love, you couldn't get to the others. Now, dear young master, you have the chance to right all the wrongs that occurred in your life, please take it." She finished pleadingly. Even the gods have become wary of his power and knowledge, and chose not to upset him in any way.

It was like an eternity the amount time it took Harry to completely think through what she's asking him to do. On one hand he could save all of his friends and loved ones, including the entire wizarding world, but on the other, he could just say 'fuck that', and see them on the other side. His saving people thing really screws him over a lot.

"Fine. I'll go back and fix all the wrongs that had happened, as long as I retain my memory, and my skills." He finally answered and noticed how Lady Death's poster relax in obvious relief.

"That will not be a problem young master, please step through now, and you will wake up to one year before you receive your Hogwarts letter."

Without hesitation, Harry strode straight through the vault.

Abruptly, Harry woke up in a dark space, under tattered covers, and on an uncomfortable mat.

It was then that Harry did something that he hadn't done in a long time.

He smiled.

A/N: I chose to fix some things.
