In for It

A/N: For this one to make sense, you need to read "Unlikely Type Rescue" first.

It was Roy DeSoto's first shift back at work since his bout with the flue. He knew he was in for it and he was totally prepared for a nightmare shift. At least, that's what he told himself on the drive into the station. He could take it. He wasn't a boot. It wouldn't last forever. The men would get bored and move on to something else before long. Nothing to it. Yeah. Right.

It wouldn't have been so bad if the stupid bat hadn't fallen down into the fireplace and flown all over the house causing complete havoc. Jo had insisted he immediately remove the little guy. She had taken Jen outside to stand on the lawn and Roy, smart man that he was, agreed instantly. This meant that Roy had rushed through the rooms chasing the little bastard with a broom, spreading soot and blackened axle grease everywhere. Chris had noisily and enthusiastically joined in on the hunt, swinging his baseball bat gleefully, until he accidentally broke his mother's favorite lamp. At that point, Roy had sent his son out to join the rest of his family. No use both of them being in the doghouse until doomsday.

And now he was about to start his shift, with both the Phantom and the Pigeon ready to make a killing. He could feel it coming. It was going to be a long, long day.
