Gollum pities Frodo . . . weird.

LOVED IT! The POV's for both of them were very close to the actual thing. This story is the best LOTR story that I've ever read...and I've read quite a few...great job! I can't say it any better than the other reviewers.

I must first begin with how spectacular your detailing of Frodo's thoughts were. They were truly Tolkien like. It's great how you get into his head in first person. It sounds like the Frodo Tolkien wrote about. I love the thought process about whether he should trust Gollum, and if he truly is trying to help them. Awesome.

Though, I was really amazed with your Gollum entry. I remember that part in the book and thinking 'ah! he's going to kill them!', but then he doesn't, and I wondered if perhaps there was some virture to the wretched thing known as Gollum. You did a wonderful job on his part. It really was spectacular. I think you really portrayed Tolkien's Gollum, rather than the movie one. The movie Gollum seemed a bit too... um... cute and lovable? Yes, that's it. You showed how Tolkien wrote it, in my opinion. Gollum hates the hobbits. He doesn't like Frodo and especially Sam. They are keeping him from what he wants... his precious. Then, he also wants his old life back. He wants to escape his own life of hell. He is forever haunted with his killing of his cousin. The describing of Gollum enving Frodo and Sam was really interesting. I don't think I ever really thought that deep into him. The way you wrote Gollum's part definitly fits Gollum. It's not just a bunch of "my precious... we hates them..." bull crap. You seemed to go further into his speech. Once again, spectacular job. You have quite a talent!

Ghh! What a mind bogglingly great ending phrase. You must know why it's so good (well, OBVIOUSLY, as you have afterall written it...boy, am I sounding intelligent today.), so I won't try and explain.

Otherwise a good story too. I like this far more than a few other Frodo-angst vignettes you have posted here. I think it has something to do with the fact that here Frodo isn't describing his own feelings, but someone else's. Makes it less angsty but just as tragic.

You handeled Smèagol's POV quite well, apart from a few places, where he is describing the sleeping Frodo, and sounds a bit too sane and...well, a bit like a fanfiction writer. (ugh, that didn't come out the way it was meant to. Didn't mean to sound mocking.) Otherwise, well done.

Has anyone stopped to think about the resemblence between your writing and that of Christopher Tolkien's? He wrote half of the Silmarillion. This is really good and well written and you have surpassed many in the art of Gollum's voice. this is good and I commend you.

Wow... that was amazing. Well-written for Frodo. I love how you've conveyed that Frodo realizes how he could become Gollum, how Gollum was once like him.

But Gollum's part... blew me away. Particularly the comment about Frodo and Sam reminding him of two people named Smeagol and Deagol. Heart-wrenching. And the last line... priceless.

I understand about the whole 'lapsing into Gollum-speak'. My sister says I'm a Gollum. I'm pale and heat-sensitive (summmer is murder). I've taken to hissing 'We hates the Yellow Face, hates its' nasssty light' whenever I'm outside... Hehe.

Waiii! I loved this :D Both Frodo and Gollum are written so beautifully, and just well... true to their characters. I espically liked Gollum's part, cuz he's just an intriguing character and it seems those are things he would think and feel.. anyhooo... great story, keep writing! :D
