Noctus Fury chapter 1 . 12/26/2019
I like how you show Astrid's flaw of competitiveness. Though it makes it difficult to like her for it, though. Her kind of competitiveness is toxic. And I know that DreamWorks made the Viking world, and the characters to have modern influences, but I disapprove of her berating Hiccup in front of everybody for causing them (her and Hiccup) to lose the game. The Gang is not on equal standing society-wise. Hiccup is a royal — a Chieftain's Son and Heir to the Throne of Berk, no less — while the others are just freedmen from families of various standings. But as Chief's Son, regardless if it was Hiccup or not, she had no right to do what she did or said, and indeed would've been punished for it. And Stoick would not have tolerated it. And had Hiccup not been Hiccup, he wouldn't have either. He doesn't tolerate it, but is too shy and fearful to bring it up. But doing what she did to Hiccup in front of the others would have undermined his authority as their leader. And what's even worse is that she doesn't even have the honor to apologize to him and dismisses his feelings by acting like nothing has happened. And as a result, she has alienated him and caused him to not want to have anything to do with her when it comes to these "competitions" or "games". Personally, if it was me, that alone would've cured me of any affection for Astrid and would've made me jump into Heather's arms at the earliest opportunity. At least from how you've written her in this.

Please keep in mind that I'm not so much criticizing you as this is pointed at Astrid. In real life, in Nordic society, she could've been punished for it. Nobody talked that way towards a Chief or his son. Not even a woman. And Hiccup, had he not have been the man he is, could've easily held a grudge and had his revenge on her by either making sure that she got punished by speaking to either her father or his father, or just decide to not marry her and instead go for some other girl.

Anyway, this was an interesting story. Thank you for writing this and for sharing this with us.

Long Live the Night!

lol, I like how you made them all have a bit of pervyness in them. I mean, they're teenagers, they're supposed to be perverts. Its male nature to talk about a woman's ass when no women are around, and sometime talk about when she's around (I speak from experience). So, yeah, I thing you brought out the fact that they are, indeed teenagers and teenagers have weird conversations sometimes.

Bardess of Avon chapter 1 . 1/21/2011
Okay, seriously, this has to be one of my favorite things EVER. It was just so perfectly in-character; it was not hard at all to imagine this scene being played out. Shining moments (meaning, parts I read out loud to my roommate) include but are certainly not limited to:

"Your mom seemed pretty impressed last night."

"Legs, stop making up words."

"You got me, Tuff. I tremble in fear of your prodigious girth. Please, have mercy."

"Legs, what did I say about making words up?"

"There are some lines you don't cross!"

EPIC. Adding to my favorites!
V-departed chapter 1 . 1/2/2011
Good to see a fic that shows how the boys are actually friends. The, ahem, group dynamics here were fun to read, very natural and free-flowing. Nice job!

The Mad shoe1 chapter 1 . 5/26/2010
I must say that you did a truley great work with this fic.

Most authors when writing about Hiccup and Astrid always turn Hiccup into the big burly strong man and Astrid into a weak little maiden.

Astrid is taller and stronger than Hiccup and will most likley always be, the only things Hiccup are superior to Astrid in is in the dragon flying and brain department.

That aside i really like how you kept Astrid's "i always gotta be the best" attitude, and how she blew up at Hiccup and then pretended like it never happend.
Gizmobunny chapter 1 . 5/21/2010
This was great! Hiccup's dialogue was amazing - I can imagine everything he said perfectly. I laughed several times, particularly at "Legs, what did I say about making words up?"

Great job!

I love the way you write the boys! They all fit together so well and play off of each other. Also, my ribs hurt from laughing, and this is your fault. D:
