I love this, even with how short it is. Original with the anonymous POV, it's intriguing. You captured Carlisle with the Volturi and matched how I always imagined him before Edward and the family — "the lost, lonely man."

And probably wrong, I'm thinking the fact that the narrator is unknown was your intention because which "character" would understand a Carlisle who "is lost, still searching for his place in the world, for the place that he can truly shine. For his light here is so faint, so undiscovered. Nobody notices the dreams he holds, the intelligence he possesses," especially with the last two sentences of this wonderful little one shot? The narrator and Carlisle are parallels.

The grammar was a little dodgy at times but I wasn't confused. I thought it was sweet. Poor Carlisle :( well done though, it was kind of clever to have an anonymous narrator-type-person.

This is AMAZING! I don't think there is another word to describe it.

I also think is original. Writing in this secret woman's POV, and no other than a member of the Volturi gurad, makes the story unique. And you also managed to makes us (readers) feel Carlisle's feelings throw her eyes.
