Although, I disagree with your assessment that Nolan's Bruce Wayne is too damaged to move on from Batman. (Comics Bruce Wayne is completely different, I'll give you that!) He certainly made plans to move on in TDK, and even in BB, he said specifically that he intended on Batman being a temporary thing. He just thought he was the only person who could do good and inspire the people, but after the wreck Gotham becomes after TDK and TDKR, he finally acknowledges that perhaps Gotham would be better off with a different kind of hero, and gives himself permission to finally get on with his life.

oh dear, well I hope Bruce doesn't get caught because of this. but still, come on, evidence Bruce, you're getting sloppy! I can just hear Alfred lecuring him now... well, hopefully Gordon will do the awesome thing, not necessarily the RIGHT thing, but the awesome thing and just let this slide... put in the grey area! although, he will have to confront Bruce about it eventually! I'm so glad I found this even if it was a little more somber than I was hoping for. The thought of Gordon figuring out Batman's true identity always intrigues me.

This was well written and I thought Gordon's introspection was true to character. It's sad to realize how alone Bruce Wayne really is. I agree with Gordon—as strange as it is to pity a billionaire, in this case it is extremely justified. The ending was great. Thanks!

I think you nailed Goordon's character perfectly. :) You did a wonderful job of building up tension; I actually got a butterfly or two in my stomach.

It would be amazing if you continued this one day, even if you just added another one more chapter to show what Gordon ultimately does about his predicament. Either way, great job! :)

I really enjoyed reading this piece! You made a point in this story that I'd never really thought of before. If Gordon/anyone knew who Batman was behind the mask...what would they think?

I had to laugh a little at "son of a *b*tch*" Not that it was silly, oh no. It was a great first reaction. Intended to be serious, of course, but I think would say the exact same thing if I found out like that, too.

I know it's simply a oneshot, but I have to wonder what Stephens/Ramirez might do...now that they know! You had a nice bit of anxiety in this situation. I find myself shifting in my seat. Honestly I think Ramirez would be the one to weasel out and gossip to the mob (-shakes fist-). And Stephens...crazy enough to try beating up the Joker, what can't he do?

I loved your take on Gordon. He's every bit the Commissioner we all know and love (and TRUST). I wonder...do you think he would confront Bruce? Or at least tell him something along the lines "I know who you are, I won't tell anyone...go fight some mobsters"? :D

Imagine how Batman would feel! D:
