btw the first line reminded me of Kelly Clarkson's "Behind these Hazel Eyes" which even matched the mood of the fic haha

Nayuki’s eternal waiting for him, for the one who will never love the way she want; not because she wasn’t meant to be loved, but because Yuuichi’s heart belonged to Ayu since the moment they met. Don’t know why, but her situation never bothered me a little. I guess my mind always cheer up for the chosen girl.
