Thank you, dear author, for this gem of a story. The refreshing view of their lives through the eyes of a stranger, the awareness of how their odd little group may have been perceived by others, the detailed attention to how they communicate, how meaningful each little movement or gesture may be... this is truly excellent.

Waahhh.. This series is so interesting! I have never in my wildest dreams, thought that I would be this enthralled by an OC that has been smitten with the Kenshin-gumi!

too bad you didn't write other chapters... It was most interesting to see how people looked at kaoru and kenshin, and what they could think about it!

I'm terribly fond of this story. Watching the anime and reading the manga with a modern (and American), it's easy to forget how many social conventions Kaoru and her merry band are breaking. This is such a lovely story, I hope plot bunnies pester you to continue it *hopeful puppy-dog eyes*

I love it, a view of the Kenshin-gumi from a conventional, formal Japanese lady showing just how different they would have really been from the culture of the times. Please continue this, it is unique and first I have read (and I have read many) that explores the vast cultural differences between what actually was and fictious way the Kenshin-gumi are.

I really, really like this story. I love third-person views of main characters, but you've made Meiko absolutely lovable and intricate, especially with her incredibly different cultural views. I know you said that you're just going off your instincts as far as the actual cultural standards, but I think your interpretation is brilliant. And the part in...chapter two, I think, where Meiko was saying that she wanted her love to be private and precious-I thought that was incredibly brilliant. I mean, yes, she's conforming to society's standards, but she's willing to. She's not forced into it or anything, so this is just a fresh of breath air in a fandom where it seems every female OC must rebel against "repressive" societies.

I think I'm rambling, but I wanted to let you know I really, really enjoyed this story, and I'm looking forward anxiously to the next chapter.

This really is a very refreshing story. Very interesting. I’d love to see how those of the Kamiya household, Kaoru in particular, unknowingly help this character break free from tradition, if that’s to happen that is. Their reactions to her thanks and gratitude, well, I can see each of them being embarrassed somewhat. It something that’d do without thinking, you know?

I’m guessing, from what I read from the first two chapters, that this is after the incident with Enishi, right? It’s kind of a continuation then?

I noticed that the majority of your sentences are simple sentences. It’s just a little tick I have, but maybe consider changing things around a bit, and not have every sentence in the same grammatical order. Just a suggestion.

This is a fascinating story. I don't think I have ever read such a closely observed take of the Kenshingumi through the eyes of what the norm would be for someone like Kaoru. If the outsiders aren't villians they are usually merchants or other vagabonds. I really look forward to more.

I REALLY like this story; it's such an original idea. I don't think I've ever seen an author do something like this. It's refreshing to see someone besides the general RK crew evaluate how Kaoru had an effect on her life.
