I really love anything Helga and Phoebe so I am really glad we had some insight into what Phoebe was thinking and feeling and I really enjoyed reading their interactions. The ending was great as well. So the Wraith wasn't in the dance room? I wonder if anyone will come to save Helga or if she'll pull through herself. If someone were to save her, my guess would be Phoebe or Arnold (or maybe I'm just hoping lol). I would guess Phoebe because its feasible she would be around because of her ECA. My second guess would be Arnold because he was dragged back to the school by Lila and he did feel iciness. But that could just be him in his feelings.
I wonder if Arnold will be a Guardian. We see that he has some of the same feelings as Lila towards Guardianship. Both of them were a bit bitter at being normal and dreamt of being a superhero. Lol, I really have no clue who the other guardians are because there are just so many options.
The only constructive (hopefully) criticism I have of the chapter is Lila's motivation for dragging and yelling at Arnold. It just seems strange to me that we don't see her scolding him for actually yelling and insulting Helga, but instead scolding him for wanting to apologise via letter. I would think the first action is more upsetting than the second, so I don't really get her motivation. I also don't get how she scolds Arnold for thinking of Helga like a project for wanting to help her when Lila's actions were kind of similar to Arnold's in the I just don't really get her character, so take my critique with a grain of salt.

Thanks for continuing to update. This chapter, aside from being interesting, has also provided some helpful thoughts to me about self improvement particularly on not being too hard on yourself and hesitating too much that it constricts one's happiness.
In this chapter, i felt that throughout the story i'm concentrated on Helga's ideal thoughts about Arnold that when I read about his POV, i was suprisingly sad abt it.. It seems that i also have put Arnold's character ideally to be good that i did not expect him to be so personally conflicted as Helga.. It puts the story on a more 360 angle in terms of perspective.
Albeit missing some Arnold and Helga interaction, the individual characters (Helga, Arnold, Lila, Phoebe and Lila) revelation and transformation makes the story rich in content. All the best in writing. Cheers

Very cool chapter, as always, and yeah, you're right. Arnold has very high standards for himself, and he feels he's falling short. Not to mention that he thinks he's failing Helga, as in, she's an obviously troubled person, and Arnold thinks he's not helping her because she keeps falling into bad habits and misbehavior, which messes with his mood to the point of snapping at her.

Phoebe and Helga's scenes are very well done; Phoebe knows that something is bothering her friend and wants to help her, but Helga keeps trying to pull her away for Phoebe's sake, but can't tell her the reasons. Yeah, that's not gonna help unless they can finally talk... or if Phoebe's not possessed or something.

Helga has the whole 'meekness is weakness' idea, so she tries to keep her tough persona at all times since the thinks it will keep herself from being hurt; this obviously doesn't work, but, unfortunately, this tough facade actually helps her in this case because she wants to keep others from getting hurt by her hero activities., so she's pushing people away to protect them. And, again, nobody knows the reason so they think Helga wants to isolate herself on purpose. This will hurt a lot more if Helga ends wanting to join the Dance Club for real, since she can't compromise with any ECA as long as she's Blue Jay.

So I wrote a review and posted it, but I don’t see it, so I guess I will write another one. I absolutely love your story and it took me a while to write my frst review because I read the chapter like 3 times. I have since read it more than 3 times. Good thing too because I notice the changes from the original. In any case, I hope the new chapter comes out soon (nudge nudge).

Anyway, I love the parallels I see between Arnold and Helga, though I am not sure they are intentional (though I think they are). For example, last chapter, Helga says “Why do you care, it’s not like you had to fight her.” And Arnold gets angry. This chapter, we see Arnold say something similar. “Why do you care, it’s not like your coming”. It’s interesting to see Helga’s reaction to that. She interprets Arnold’s sentence to imply that they aren’t friends, and that he doesn’t care about her opinion. Could he have felt the same? Was that why he was angered? If it is, we have to question how Helga interprets everything Arnold does. For example, like on the bus when he blinks at her in surprise and she thinks it is because he didn’t notice her. Could it be that he blinked in surprise because her bruise was gone? Maybe I am reading to much into it, I mean you said Helga’s POV is skewed before, but maybe I am taking it too far. In any case, I love how Helga lays it on him. Good on her. I also love how Arnold reacts to her and even in his anger, he wants to protect her. I’d love to hear Arnold’s POV though. Maybe we will see that if we eventually get to see that letter?

Speaking of protection, I think Helga’s powers really suit her. I mean, she puts up a barrier, something she has been doing her how life, to protect people, the way she has always protected herself. She really needs to figure out her powers though because yeah. Maybe it has to do with her feelings of needing to protect people. Think Helga girl.

I also always love Phoebe Helga friendship, and I am so excited to see more of Phoebe. I wonder what Arnold and Gerald said to get Phoebe to agree to call out Helga on their behalf. On another note, it seems to me at least, that she has already picked up on a few things in Blue Jay that might remind her of Helga, based on her reactions to Blue Jay. I hope Phoebe figures it out, or even Eugene. He seemed to piece some things together a few chapters ago, so maybe if they get attacked at the mall, Eugene will figure it out? That being said, are all the guardians women. If not, I place money that Eugene might be one of them.

Finally, I love the way Gerald reacts to Arnold and Helga’s arguments, like it is a spectacle. It was implied that Arnold took pictures of Helga a few chapters back right? I wonder what Gerald thinks of Helga and Arnold’s relationship. Another POV that I think would be interesting. Anyway, please update soon! I’m pathetic without another chapter… lol

What a suprising and great continuation of the story. The internal emotional battles of Helga together with her hot and cold interactions with Arnold were well written and amusing. It was also interesting how Helga's classmates started to accept her and see her in a new light yet Arnold is still in the dark (or not?) about who she really is and perhaps in denial of what he really feels about her... And i feel Helga on her tiredness of living a double life but still kept being flustered abt Arnold's nearness in both lives! Thanks again for this very good story. I'm excited for the next one.

Hey, great chapter, and nice to have both Phoebe and Eugene in the story.

Good point about Nel and Arnold having such high standards for Helga, because they know she can do much better. Unfortunately, they don't express it the right way, specially Arnold, who only says all the negative stuff without ever trying to mention the positive aspects; this is specially hurtful for Helga since she knows Arnold usually sees the best in people, so having him belittling or insulting her pretty much sends the wrong message. 'You're so messed up that even the best guy you know thinks you're a terrible person'.

And, of course, Arnold applies the double standard again, this time on himself; he belittles and lectures Helga on her mistakes, but when he's doing something that isn't just dumb but downright dangerous, he keeps doing it and downplaying Helga's concerns.

Great story. I like the raw emotions and reality that you put behind Helga and Arnold's relationship, and how Helga's character and her relationships are evolving or unraveling across the chapters. Looking forward for more. All the best.

Oof, what a chapter. I am glad that Lola and Helga have settled things and that Miriam seems to be paying more attention to and actually for HElga. That fight was absolutely ridiculous and kind of funny. Did people see Helgas bra when Rhonda threw water at her, and and I wrong to interpret that Arnold was turned on by the fight, or was he just angry by the end of it? I am kind of sad that Helga didn't just rock RHondas ... and that she got beaten up some, but that makes me wonder if Rhonda herself isn't a guardian. I initially thought she would be, but then given that there are only 2 more thought she wouldn't be. I guess we will have to see.
I love the fight between Helga and Arnold and Helga revelation that she shouldn't have to go out of her way to prove herself to Arnold, that he should see her as she is now, not throw her past in her face. I am hoping we get to see Arnold pining to apologize and Helga not having any of it, but that is for you to decide. So excited about hearing about phoebe soon, and the fact that you've already started on the next chapter
I don't really think Helga fits into the sailor scouts, but if I had to pick, I would say a mix of sailor moon (her clumsiness and slovenliness), sailor mars (her snark) and sailor Uranus ( her distance from others). Patty would definitely be sailor Jupiter, and lila is sailor Neptune mixed with some sailor Venus. What do you think?

another amazing chapter :) I also really like in which direction this story goes, especially how Helga is slowly taking her rose coloured glasses off, regarding Arnold. I hope this will give Helga the chance to grow outside of Arnold, and also for Arnold to see his faults. I'm also starting to enjoying the Helga-Lila dynamics more. I do agree that since we experience everything from Helga's view, we readers are obviously very biased towards her. Both of them have their imperfections, but they also balance each other out beautifully (especially now, since imo I think their relationship is more smooth). Can't wait to see Pheobe again next chapter, I miss her.

I'm honestly not much of a fanfic reader but my love for magical girl stories and good ol Helga has roped me into this story. I just wanted to say how much I LOVED this chapter especially, from taking Arnold off the pedestal to the intense emotions between Helga and Lila and their growing partnership/friendship! But that could also just be me loving the relationship between the two I've always wanted them to be good friends in the show and seeing that happen here and how it's written is really well done and I just want to say keep up the good work I always look forward to a new chapter!
