Beyondtoday chapter 4 . 9/1
You have a gift. Thank you.
Beyondtoday chapter 2 . 9/1
Tennek is looking at Spock from a Vulcan point of view, and we experience him as half human and our friend. A friend we all want to protect, but respect his space. Tennek can go back to Vulcan, he has already made his assumptions of Spock, weak, emotional, moody and too human.

A very excellent first try. A very believable Spock - sickbay panic attacks and all. Loved it.
Thanks for writing.
Woogles chapter 4 . 4/7/2018
Thank you for sharing! I loved your author's note at the end of the last chapter- so sweet! :D. At first, I was ready to stop reading your story at the drop of a hat, since the description implied, to my eye, that you were going to twist Spock into something he's not- having him cry in McCoy's arms, or something haha.

But you didn't do that! You have him analyze, meditate, and so what any Vulcan would, ideally, do- which is to reference Surak's teachings, and try to apply them in their own lives. The OC was excellent; and it allowed a more reasonable explanation of his open comments to Spock by including the added strain of an unexpected phobia. I thought he was quite believable.

I also thought McCoy and Kirk were spot on, and enjoyed how they would make the logical (if you will) emotional leaps of understanding about Spock, that Spock, in turn, would spend ages picking apart step by careful step. I also thought it was interesting- and realistic, given other Star Trek episodes with Vulcans- that Spock and your OC were inadvertently affecting each other telepathically.

In all, my favorite idea in this story is the catch-22 you present in Spock's pride as a child: he doesn't want the studies to continue, but cannot refuse them, because to refuse them would be to admit he doesn't want them, which in turn would be to admit to an emotional reaction, which would show that he isn't properly Vulcan, in his eyes (and, honestly, in theirs). It's irrational, yet hard backed into him through his peers and even the adults in his life. So, in reality, he had *no choice*, which is what McCoy grasped almost instantly; the implicite power of persuassion the adults hold over a child in their care.

If you haven't checked it out, you might find "Yesteryear" interesting- it's from the Star Trek animated series, and shows Spock as a kid. It certainly works with this story nicely.

Okay, I'm done rambling- I'm off to check out your author's profile lol

This was your first!? Wow. You have only gotten better!
Owyheewinds chapter 3 . 4/6/2017
How rare and blessed art those who have such an epiphany, as Tenneck's!
Owyheewinds chapter 2 . 4/6/2017
Tennek seems to have over-compartmentalized. And this seems to be a feature of many Vulcans who try to emulate some form of Surakianism...control or suppression, rather than an integration. I am intrigued as to how Spock is picking up strongly on Tennek's claustrophobia, or is it a PTSD-like reaction? Quite the literal disruption to parallel the psychological ones...with the gravity controls going berserk!

You write more precisely yet arrestingly than most of the Star Trek published novels. Your writing is high quality very suitable for commercial publishing. You should be paid for these. I want more!
Heather Snow chapter 4 . 12/3/2016
Oh, wow. This was such a neat idea to explore. I love how your stories often tackle ethical concepts or culture clashes, things that have a kind of cerebral component to them.
Atlasina7 chapter 4 . 11/15/2016
I can see the Vulcans wanting to study Spock, but it had never crossed my mind before this story. I also enjoyed how you portrayed how much McCoy cares for Spock.
Arhie chapter 4 . 10/30/2016
Spot on characterizations. A great read!
cimmer chapter 4 . 9/13/2016
What a really excellent fanfic. I very much liked the interaction between Kirk, Spock and McCoy and your OC's were well rounded and interesting. Thanks
SpockTastic chapter 4 . 8/19/2016
That was really good!
Most StarTrek:The Original Series stories about Spock aren't very well written, or are just bucket loads of gross Slash :P Even though this is your first fanfic, I think it was great. :)
