I enjoyed this story. Loved the reason his patronus gave! Gave me the feels and I just sat and read it with his voice in my head quite a few times before moving on.
A small criticism, which I hope is constructive. I found myself having to read back from time to time because the action had moved on so fast my imagination was struggling to keep up. I think it was because there was little pause to explain feelings or give reactions to what was happening. It was hard to make pictures in my head fast enough.
A thing happened. Then another thing happened. Then they went here. Then there was a thing. Round the corner was another thing. They came back to do a thing, but something happened. Something else happened.
Even if they were all very interesting events, can you see how with no reaction from characters that it’s just plot and little character development? That made it fast paced and exciting, but in places it just felt I was being rushed through the landscape of your story without being able to relax and check out the scenery much. Try breaking up all the ‘things’ that are happening with speech or physical reactions that imply emotion.
We already like the characters, we just need a bit more to go on in order to care more. Sometimes it felt like the story was happening to them, rather than it being their story because things happened to them, but by not being privy to their thoughts so much I felt distanced from them.
I would love to read something from you that has a plot covering a shorter time span, but the same word count, so you have to plump it up thoughts and reactions and the witty speech you’re good at.
I particularly liked your writing when from Severus’ POV. Each time he called Albus a bastard made me chuckle. There was a lot to like in this. I hope you don’t think my review a negative one. It certainly wasn’t my intent.

Thank you so much for this story. It is absolutely perfect. Not angsty, not dark, not filled w/dysfunction and abuse—just lots of heroic adventure, esp a romantic adventure. Excellent job rounding out the whole 7th yr Horcrux hunt into a more complete picture w/ mature-beyond-her-yrs-Hermione as the real behind the scenes savior of all. I see a number of the reviewers wanted a longer, more drawn out, more ‘firmly founded’ romance, but to me it was perfect—Hermione realizing Severus’s worth as an honorable, practical, absolutely dedicated man who always helped her & how Severus was able to absolutely trust & depend on Hermione. Personally, I really enjoyed that all this was in short story form, rather than full-length novel. I love ‘marriage law’ fics & while this isn’t exactly a ‘marriage law’ as such, it is the most satisfying one I’ve read.

This was full of angst, but I still enjoyed it!

I get that this is a short story, but you don't explain how she comes to the conclusion that she's actually infatuated with him. They spend three weeks together and they seem mostly annoyed or barely tolerant of one another and then BAM! She decides she wants him.

Good, short but well written. The romance went a bit quick but I imagine the stresses of war, starvation and despair might push two people to find what happiness they can when ever they can.

Lovely story. It made thier relationship both palatable and believable which are hard to both accomplish in one story. Hope you keep writing. You have a gift for making the usual angst easier to read.
