I’m crying.

This is heartbreakingly beautiful. The image of Darth Vader not being able to let Luke die at that moment and letting himself care for him is precious, achingly so because Anakin will not yet let himself go back.

Terrific one short. It's a heartwarming story. Even if it is unrealistic I love how Vader protected and cared for his son.

I agree with Vader.

What the heck was Obi-Wan thinking, leaving the only hope for the galaxy and the Jedi order to go untrained but for one day with Obi-Wan and a short period likely not more than 2 weeks with Yoda?

From a movie point of view, it makes sense to have the hero be plucked out of his meaningless existence and to put him right in the action so we can relate to the everyman in a dead end job.

However, from a practical point of view, in light of the situation in the galaxy, what the hell was Obi-Wan thinking!? This kid doesn't know any of the order's history and barely knows the Code. His swordsmanship is at best the level of a pre-apprenticeship initiate.

The only reason he is still alive after facing Darth Vader is that Vader was toying with him on Bespin and didn't want to kill him above Endor. Vader practically wiped out half the Order on his own with the Clones, Inquisitors and bounty hunters taking down the rest. There is no other explanation for Luke to survive a duel with a Lord of the Sith.

Now that I'm off my soap box, I enjoyed your story. It made me think (as evidenced by my little rant) and your portrayal of Vader is well done.
