Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am KyoXTohru1, and I am going to start accepting beta requests. I'm hoping that the people who ask me to beta for them will realize that I will do my best, but I still might not catch every single mistake. I can also only beta stories for fandoms that I know about (mostly for spelling purposes - I don't want to accidentally think something's mispelled just because I'm ignorant of a particular fandom - but also for characterizing purposes - I can't understand a particular character if I've never actually read/watched the work he/she is in). However, I will do my best. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am usually very good at catching spelling or grammar mistakes - English was generally my highest grade (in middle school - now that I'm in high school, my grades are slipping due to research papers we're required to do). I am also pretty good about writing style, and will be able to help you with awkward wording. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
However, I am in general not very good at characterizing, but I do try my best to make believable characters. Since I am a human, I will probably not be able to catch all mistakes, but will do my best. I also tend to write rather long, rambling sentences. Also, I've recently realized that, when I'm speaking, I tend to just drift off and never actually finish my sentences. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I would prefer to beta Ouran High School Host Club, Hetalia: Axis Powers, Fruits Basket, Warriors, Death Note, Vampire Knight, Beauty Pop, Harry Potter, School Rumble, Wicked, Chronicles of Narnia, The Host, Maximum Ride, Absolute Boyfriend, and InuYasha stories, if possible, but I will accept anything that is under my preferences list. I have no problem whatsoever with betaing yaoi stories or stories with the couple Prussia/Canada gender-flipped (from "Hetalia: Axis Powers"). I also have no problem with hetero stories (but I'm pretty sure everyone's okay with that...) or incest. However, I'd still prefer it if it was more like a sibling-love type of thing, rather than an actual incest fic, if you send it to me. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Please do not ask me to beta stories that involve explicit sex (with an M rating - I'm generally pretty okay with T-rated sex), whether it is yuri, yaoi, or het. Particularly if it is incestuous, bestial, or statutory rape (I'm pretty sure that's what it's called - I mean sex between an adult and a kid... and just to let you know, Light/L from Death Note does not count as this, even though Light is only seventeen for part of the first arc). I also do not particularly like betaing stories that involve yuri in general, unless it is genderflipped Prussia/Canada (again from "Axis Powers: Hetalia". I would also prefer you not send me stories with excessive swearing. Unless it involves either Southern Italy or Prussia (both from "Axis Powers: Hetalia"), because then it's understandable about the swearing. |
