Author has written 98 stories for Supernatural. “In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant." - Elwood P. Dowd, Harvey Follow your muse. If it delights your heart then it is worthwhile. I wrote my first story Orders because I wanted to explore why Dean was so compulsive about following Dad’s orders. I only write Supernatural stories because it's still the only show that inspires me to flesh out its characters. It has been suggested that I am obsessed with Supernatural, hmmm wonder why they would think that? I have now been writing these stories for over seven years! To be honest, I am shocked. Who would have thought a TV show would fuel my creative juices and compel me to write these stories? The Winchesters are such amazing characters you just want to dig to the bottom of their psyches and figure them out. None of them are perfect but that is what makes them so intriguing. I love to write about Dean. He is such a complex, emotionally damaged, yet heroic figure, and I love watching Jensen Ackles portray all the facets of his intricate personality. I also enjoy exploring John as a flawed, tragic father who has lost so much and struggles to continue on, making mistakes along the way, but always loving his sons. I miss Jeffrey Dean Morgan terribly and hope that one day he will return to resolve some of those father/son issues his boys still have. Jared Padalecki has amazed me with his riveting portrayal of Sam. I am beginning to understand Sam better and I hope I realistically capture him in my stories. All of my stories focus on the relationships in this family, their love and devotion to each other and their need to protect each other. Bobby officially joined the Winchester family IMHO during AHBL2. Watching the four J's act together is heaven! S4 exploded with the introduction of Castiel! I love the "profound bond" Dean and Cas share. Misha Collins has brought so much to the role and to the set. Supernatural excels at selecting the very finest actors who also happen to be wonderful people! How can you not fall in love with the characters and the family feel between cast, crew and fans? I am proud to be a part of SPNFamily! I started writing stories about when the boys were younger, but I am now also writing current stories. I must credit any insight into the younger Winchesters to my two phenomenal nephews, Zach and Logan. They are the closest brothers I have ever known and are simply amazing. Love you guys! Previously I enjoyed Leverage, Dark Angel (S2, the Alec season!), Buffy and Angel, Firefly, Roswell, Tour of Duty, and Lonesome Dove, amongst a few others. The closest I have come to the obsession I have with Supernatural would have been Farscape, which I absolutely loved and was heartbroken when it was prematurely cancelled. I have been fortunate to win several Supernatural Fanfiction Awards http:///snfa/p_winners.php among them: Sacrifice won Childhood Trauma & Best Story in the SNFA Round 5 Legacy won Chick Flick Moments RU & Best Story Runner Up in the SNFA Round 9 My first zine story, End of the Innocence, is in the 1st issue of the zine A 'Hunting We Will Go. http:///supernat.htm Somethin' to Talk About and Time Moves On, But I'm Still Here are in the special Mystery Spot zines, You'll Thank Me When It's Wednesday and Every Possible Way Other stories are in Road Trip With My Brother Vol. 6 and the collection: Salt 'n' Burn, Vol 1 & 2 I love writing dialogue, love getting inside the characters and hearing their voices in my head. And yes, they do speak to me...not in the crazy 'I hear voices' way, more in the 'let me immerse myself so totally into their lives that the characters lead me through and show me the way' way. So for dialogue and insight into the characters probably my fav stories are The Weight and O' Death, and Promises. Certain stories are special to me, either for the chances I took when writing them or the subject matter and the depth of the emotion. I'm particularly partial to the stories dealing with Dean and his Hell experience: White Room and The Rack. Most popular humor stories are: Prank Wars Tales From Beyond the Edge of Reason, The Dresser, and Santa's Helpers. Most of my episode tags are written to fill in gaps in what the real writers gave us. They only have 40 minutes to tell their story and sometimes I want more or I felt the episode was missing the emotional punch that I crave. Of those I like: Three Hours, Fortunate Son, Not My Life, Dean, Interrupted, and Touched By an Angel. Romance stories...so many fans don't like to read them and it can be dangerous introducing a female character, but I love exploring how Dean Winchester isn't just the slam-bang, thank-you-ma'am kind of guy one might assume he is. Jensen is so accomplished at showing us those glimpses beneath the surface, how Dean can be sensitive and vulnerable, and I love seeing how others view him and how they bring him pleasure when he lets down his guard and releases the weight on his shoulders. Dean deserves someone who sees beyond the hot guy image and can truly appreciate the depth of the man. Hence, I've gone outside my comfort zone and written a few, namely Midnight Interlude and Whiskey, Women and Song. I've been writing a lot of 100 word drabbles lately. Often I lack the time to craft a longer story and oddly, it's been fun limiting my words and getting straight to the heart of what I want to say. They usually run in series and have been well-received so far. It still amazes me how much more there is to say about the Winchesters and their extended family and friends. Kripke certainly created a fascinating universe with so much depth within the characters and so many directions to explore, hence I think I'll be at this a very long time. I am eternally grateful he allows me to play in his sandbox! I hope if you've gotten this far reading my profile, you can find something of value in my body of work. I like to try different approaches and styles and not limit myself. It is a learning experience and while I could tidy up some of my earlier stories (they most certainly could use it!), I choose to focus on my stories going forward. I always have new ideas and stories that I'm working on and never enough time to complete them. Thanks for stopping by. Reviews are most welcome. |
